What is DVD-RAM im guessing its like a random access disk you can drag and drop files to, im not sure i would look into it on the web but i aint got time right now so hopefully when i get back my answer will be solved.

wow just like i thought access a disc as if it were a HDD, now my new fimware drive seems outdated..i need DVD-RAM support.

DVD-RAM isnt really all that great, since it's proprietary. With DVDR's you can burn off movies or data to take over to other computers that only have to have DVD drives.
Plus DVD-RAM holds just as much as DVD-R/DVD+R.

Sure you can rewrite DVD-RAM ~100,000 and DVD-RW/DVD+RW only 1,000... but whoes going to even re-write their media more than 900 times?

I still dont really understand the point of DVD-RAM, whats the difference between this and say a DVD-R?

RAM = Random Access Memory.

Just like The "Ram" (memory) in your pc.

Only similar to RAM (memory) in name, since DVD-RAM acts more like a hard drive. RAM is volatile, DVD-RAM is not.
