Is it true that HL2 is going to use Steam and that Steam main menu interface? Becuase I really ahted that.

But in some photos from a Valve performance test of HL2 on different graphics cards, I saw the main menu, and it was using Steam. Please tell me HL2 won't use Steam in the final version ;(

Yes HL2 will be using steam interface, thats also why we have it, because hl2 was built around it.

STEAM is the backbone of HL2, unless you only want to play singleplayer

better get used to it James.. well that is if u will be playing MP.. anyway in the long run, Steam will be better than WON ever was.

Yes. Steam is the backbone and core of the HL2 experience. Any I agree with you Freeman, Steam will soon be better than any online experience that any of us have ever had. Even more organized and well-maintained than WON was; less cheaters / h4x0rz too! H00-R4h!

yah.. and don't be too surprised if other dev teams from other companies wanna distribute their game over Steam in the future..

right now Valve needs to prove Steam is a stable and quick way of getting what the fans want.. once thats established, i see this as a very real possibility..

Well...

The reason I don't like Steam is because:

Ever since I installed it, all my HL stuff (including single player games) have gone about 10 times slower! . In OP4 single player, every time someone is about to say a line of dialogue, i have to wait about 20 secs for it to load. And on MP I got loooaaaddddsss of lag. Even though my PC is fast. Then I unsinstalled Steam, and everything went at great speed again!

That's one of the reasons I don't like Steam. That better not happen in HL2!

STEAM is getting less buggy by the day (well, by the update )

I'd assume they won't release HL2 until STEAM is bug free, or close to it

They are releasing CZ on it, so its close to bug free, if they are gonna be releasing games on it.
