For breakfast this morning I was going to have some oatmeal, the tasty kind in the little packets. So I get some water boiling and then dumped my oatmeal into a bowl. I goto turn the light on above the stove and then I see somthing, my oatmeal is moving....at first I thought it was just sort of rolling around from being dumped into the bowl but then I look closer...and SEE BUGS!! AHHH!! WTF?!!!! I freak out and put the oatmeal into the boiling water to kill all those bastards and then I put it down the garbage disposal...the bugs looked like centipeds...I had some of the oatmeal yesterday and I don't know if it had bugs in it...I checked a few other packets and they didn't....

Shoulda given that oatmeal to Seth.

they're called weavels and they get in packages like that.

btw, who the hell puts water on the stove to boil it?? (mircrowaves were invented like 20 years ago and only cost like $50)

I boil water over the stove...Especially for stuff like that.

Microwaves are good, but they don't heat things in the same way and often food heated in a microwave will taste differently.

samehere.. I dislike microwaves personally, they make stuff taste awful :|

the only reason I'd heat water in a microwave is to superheat it, and watch it boil all at once when I poke it.

It was pretty old oatmeal, but wtf they come in little packets...must have got in in the factory. And boiling water on the stove takes maybe 5 seconds more...out of the 35 seconds it takes to boil. I really don't need my water to boil anyfaster than that.

Once when I was little, my mom made me a bowl of oatmeal and accidentally put salt in it instead of sugar. I took one bite and vomited.

I just opened up the package and found a bunch, about 25 of them and I put them all in a plastic bag.

Hmm I confused oatmeal with cereals (don't ask me why) & I was like, WTF?!!? Cereals + boiling water = not something I would put in my mouth.

And I wouldn't eat your oatmeal either ;( Good you didn't eat it. But I don't think there would be any symptoms really if you ate any of them (except you'd feel BAD for eating insects) since the acid in your stomach would've killed them in like , 2.3 seconds.

Edit: Probably even faster than that.

My weetybix sometimes get mealy bugs in them, as my sis leaves the top open...

you boil the water in the microwave and then add it to the oatmeal. just like you would if you boiled the water on the stove and then added it to the oatmeal.

and for microwaves making the food taste bad. Either you have a really wacky/dirty microwave or it's all in your head.

No...and I didn't actually say bad. Microwaves heat things up differntly though. Its difficult to explain, but because it works on directly exciting the water particles it gives a different flavour.

Thats nasty man, but i gotta tell ya I dont know if it compares to my story.

I was with my wife, we were just about to get on the free way to head up north to were her family lives. However I notice we needed gas. So we pulled over at the gas station right next to the on ramp. I allways pump the gas while my wife goes and pays. She was awsome tho, she brought me a bag of snacks and some Chocolate milk Woohoo. She even offered to drive so i could eat. Well I do admit the snacks were suspicous looking as they came from a 7-11. So I decided to drink some Chocolate milk first. To my suprise there was no chocolate milk in the container, all I felt was a jello-y substance slid to the back of my throat..Thank God for the gag reflex or that nasty slimy substance was going into my tummy. Needless to say I took a quick peek at the experation date on the container.....well it only expired TWO AND A HALF MONTHS PRIOR......To this day I dont eat or drink anything out of a container before first checking the experation date.

yep, cause I love to cook my chicken wings in the oven. They get a nice crisp to them, while in the microwave the just get slimey.

That bug thing is pretty gross... Same thing has happened to me with oatmeal though :) And right now we have a MAJOR roach problem... It's no fun trying to sleep and feeling a cockroach crawl across your face :x

Hey man I vacuum twice a week and always clean up my food after myself. They're eating our books :(

And we can't afford a bug guy, that shit's like 200 bucks

Well considering the time period and the fact that he was middle-eastern, things might have been blown out of proportion by the media, cause trust me had I gone back the media surely would have been there cause I would have opened up a serious can of whoop *** on him and every one in the store, and every one in the parking lot and every one in the liquor store next door. :sniper:

Well I just ate a bunch of bugs that tasted like oatmeal... wierd.

I got really hungry and ate the oatmeal, this packet had no bugs(I think) but it probably had the god damn eggs in it...I should be alright...right?

Did the bugs look like this? Because if they did, then you might have an infestation of Weevils.

No nothing like that....but they were very small so it was hard to tell.

Your stomach acid should have destroyed the eggs(if there were any)

I remember this happening alot with sacks of flour

I get weevils all the time in the macaroni and cheese I have downstairs, just throw the box and get another.

That is good...don't want somthing out of the movie Alien to happen.

You might want to throw the box of oatmeal out. Because the bugs might try and get into other foods.
