Lim Yo Hwan is getting conscripted! Into the ROKAF as an computer software specialist...

Q: Who the *** is he?

A: (The best Starcraft player on the planet)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lim_Yo-Hwan

Lim Yo-Hwan, known by the pseudonym SlayerS_`BoxeR` (usually shortened to Boxer), is one of the most successful players of the real-time strategy game StarCraft to date. He is the most popular Starcraft player with a fan club of almost 600,000 members and a DVD compilation of his greatest games released in South Korea.

Lim has an impressive record with 435 wins and 284 losses in his professional career. This success has brought him the highest salary of professional gaming, exceeding an annual income of 300,000 US Dollars per year, excluding prize money and endorsements (which would equal to ~900 000$ U.S) . In 2004 he was voted the greatest gamer of all time by readers of ESReality, one of the most popular western electronic sports websites, and in June 2006 he was included in an MTV list of "The 10 Most Influential Video Gamers Of All Time" [1].

:(

When he returns from his 3-year duty, he'll prolly be too old to keep playing....

He was about the only celebrity that I liked..... ;( Farewell, Boxer....

THUS THE DOWNSIDES OF CONSCRIPTION ARE REVEALED!

Ah well, maybe he can practise with real warfare.

In three years time there'll be a new computer game for him to come back to - and through being in the military, he might have picked up a few new tactics :D

True, Starcraft 2 should be released by then, or delayed indefinitely in favour of a WoW update.

Too bad real warfare has no micro-management in it. :(

Ah well, I'll just go back to watching the BEst 100 replays of Yo Hwan....

He'll become SK's greatest strategist. Why do you think he was chosen. "Computer software specialist" is just a lie.

That Sucks!!

Or could today maybe a september 9th fools day in korea?

Just wait until the news headlines reveal that he's lead a military coup and taken over both north and south, imposing a regieme of zerglings D:

Umm... i've never heard of this guy. He's not the greatest gamer in my opinion.

Also... his win loss ratio is kind of cruddy. You'd think an expert would have a better ratio.

Against other experts...

Yeah, and? All I said is that it wasn't very awe inspiring. Not even a 2-1 ratio :-P

Better than me of course... but he only plays starcraft apparently, so why is he voted the world's greatest gamer? There are far more worthy people.

Numbers is from Korea. Starcraft is like sex in Korea.
This guy has a 600,000 fan club. He gets paid 300k a year for playing a game. Throw in Sponser money, tournament money, etc... He even sells DVD's of his best games.

The main reason this guy is great is because he was one of the first professional starcraft gamers to kick all ass with Terran. He can micro terran insanely well.

The reason his record isn't so well is because... IT IS STARCRAFT. There is no one dominant way to win a game. When your playing against other people that play this game for $$$ in huge tournaments, most utilizing different strategies, tactics, and how they play the game. To have a 2 -1 ratio would be incredible professionally. This guy I dont believe even plays on Battle.net. If he did he would probably dominate damn near everyone....especially if he went on US\europe servers.

Also:
World Cyber Games champion (2001, 2002 and the only StarCraft player in the Hall of Fame)
First player to achieve 100 wins in OnGameNet Starleagues (OSL)
First player to win more than one OSL (Hanbitsoft 2001, Coca Cola 2001), and only so far to have won two consecutive OSL's
Longest player to hold first place in KeSPA rankings (17 months)
Has won the WCG twice (only player to do this, however, it should be noted that they changed the system after his 2nd win - previously the winner had been invited automatically to the next WCG, now they had to qualify again).
Won the first KPGA Tour (now MBC starleague).
Has finished 2nd in Ongamenet Starleague 4 times (2001 SKY, 2002 SKY, 2004 EVER, 2005 SO1)
Finished 2nd in the first KT-KTF Premiere league.
