What happened next is testimony to the rising disgust in Chinese military ranks as Beijing posts more troops to the border amid a crisis with North Korea over its regime’s plan to stage a nuclear test.

The soldiers, who later told family members of the incident, marched the woman, who was about 30, to the mid-point of the bridge. North Korean guards were waiting. They signed papers for receipt of the woman, who kept her dignity until that moment. Then, in front of the Chinese troops, one seized her and another speared her hand — the soft part between thumb and forefinger — with the point of a sharpened steel cable, which he twisted into a leash.

“She screamed just like a pig when we kill it at home in the village,” the soldier later told his relative. “Then they dragged her away.”

Such stories are circulating widely among Chinese on the border, where wild rumours of an American attack on nuclear test sites have spread fears of a Chernobyl-type cloud of radiation and sparked indignation at the North Koreans. “I’ve heard it a hundred times over that when we send back a group they stab each one with steel cable, loop it under the collarbone and out again, and yoke them together like animals,” said an army veteran with relatives in service.

“Why are they poor?” asked a local official, who was drinking heavily in a bar at festival time. “Because that gangster Kim Jong-il spends all the money on nuclear weapons!” Several Chinese soldiers have died in clashes with rogue North Korean soldiers who have crossed the border, shot up buildings and, in one case, robbed a bank with their AK-47s

When the Chinese army complains about North Korea's human right standards, you know that somethings wrong.

Yikes. That's monstrous.

Watch the docu. There's an illegal market for human flesh in NK. And instead of food, it uses thousands of acres of farmland to grow opium.

That's monstrous.

I've just finished it, Jesus, what a country..

I saw this, it's like a nightmare. If korean commies don't have duty for their own country, what they will do with nuclear weapons? Well, that's efect of communism. Place where every human have same rights and wealth, don't you think? :|

Solaris, CptStern, reds, are you watching this?

I have so many questions about North Korea.....like I am wondering now if the high ranked officials of the country know what the rest of the world is like, or they're as cut off as the rest of the country is.

aaaaaaaaaaargh.
thats sick.
the indian commies seem angels by comparison.
but does the blame lie solely on the dprk? shouldnt some of it lie with the international community ( that includes all of us) for driving this country into isolation and fostering the growth of this repulsive regime?
how come no-one tried regime change here?
is an attempt at regime change possible, now that they have nukes?
lots of open questions.

Yes interesting that you know who didn't try and uproot the government? They've screwed around with loads of countries regimes in the past 50 years. I would point to the scared-shitless-of-China-factor as a big reason for not interfering.

Sanctions is the only option to try and get NK to change their ways. Which we all know will do sweet **** all. The poor will just get poorer and the rich will use what little money there is to fund more nuclear ambitions etc.

“I’ve heard it a hundred times over that when we send back a group they stab each one with steel cable, loop it under the collarbone and out again, and yoke them together like animals,” said an army veteran with relatives in service.
Holy shit. Why send them back? Can't they grant them assylum?

The soldiers themselves in China have their own international security to promote, even if the ends of those who're sent back are extremely tragic.

Most soldiers on the borders are not allowed to talk to westerners, for fear that their defensive positions might be revealed.

And we get about 10,000 North Korean refugees a year, and as they're our citizens accordiong to the constitution, we don't send them back. However, extremely few come across the huge minefield called the DMZ.

However, one NK refugee was granted asylum to the US because of 'political harassment', IE we wouldn't let him flame north Korea in public, because Kim gets mad sometimes.

Anyone played Mercenaries? That game is my first look at what Korea could be like.
