you have plenty space......make sure you aren't trying to install it on the operating system partition. idk what letter it is since you covered it up for some odd reason.

Looks like you may be trying to install it on that other one. Make sure it's on your main hard drive.

I think that is about admin rights I tried to ran on non-admistrative account on XP with enough space and, I got same issue

first drive (windows icon) - 208 GB free of 290 GB
plenty of space

second drive - 897 MB free of 7.68 GB
um...delete some stuff if you want it on this drive. < 1 GB free? If you like getting stuff off Steam you'll need more than that drive (partition) can even provide (7.68GB).

admin rights should be an easy fix. :p

I've had this error message when I've been trying to install Ep1 from disk, so I installed EP2 from steam download instead and it works fine

SOORRYYYY FOR SPAM

*good newws*

got it to work =D
now itz downloadin on my steam games.
soo now i gotta wait
for a long time xD

I had the same problem with Half-Life 2 Episode 1 and The Ship. The Steam folder in Program Files was 9.7GBs and I'm wondering if there is a 10GB limit on files???

You could download direct from Stream or as I did copy the contents of the DVD onto your hard drive (into a Temp directory C:\Temp) and simply run the installer from there!

Worked a treat on both games!! :cheese:

There is no limit.I believe a once had a Steam folder with 17GB in it. There is an edit button in the bottom right of your posts, right next to the quote button, as long as it is YOUR post.
And why do you post in threads that have already been fixed?
*sigh* Newbs.

I've had a 60 Gigabyte Steam folder, there's no limit.

Buy another harddrive. That was my initial reaction to the topic.

Otherwise, attempt to download it from Steam.

Just copy it to the HDD

This problem seems to happen only in Vista 64-bit, regardless of how much disk space you have left. I have 500 GB free and it still does it. I tried "run as administrator", tried compatibility mode, etc, etc... The only thing that works is to copy the CD/DVD to a temporary folder on your hard drive and run SETUP.EXE from there. That works perfectly.

Dude, the OP was last online in 2007. He's hardly gonna come back and give you the answer! Also, old thread is old. Start a new one if you want people to help.
