I fully intend upgrading my PC sometime early in the new year when funds allow. However this is what I have to suffer at the moment.

P3-933
384mb Ram
Geforce FX5200.

I've managed to run Far Cry at 800x600 reasonably well and Call of Duty, UT2004 run seemingly fine at low settings.

Is it worth my while trying to run CS:Source?

I know that I fall below the min specs as recommended by Valve but I managed with Far Cry OK.

Please don't flame, I'm new here!

You should be fine. Just don't turn up the settings too much :)

btw,

Hello and Welcome!

I don't see why not if you can swing Far Cry. I imagine Source is much better on old hardware than the Far Cry engine.

It wouldn't hurt to try, especially if you plan on upgrading soon.

You should be able to manage current games like CSS and HL2 but you will have to put up with low performance.

You cannot upgrade that system and expect a boost in performance, realistically. But you can replace the main parts for new CPU, Mainboard, Memory, and GFX card.

To me that's not "upgrading" but building a new PC while using old parts. hehe

It would help a lot but would you have the money? The minimum you would be spending would be ~$300.
