This game is very addictive.

This game is very addicting.

Neither is really wrong. But addicting sounds 100% retarded to me. Does anyone else find the use of addicting in such a sentence retarded.

Another person the day said "He stuffed up, how embarrassment". Shouldn't that be "He stuffed up, how embarrassing"

I say addictive...not sure when I'd use Addicting..

I found this.

Attention, Internet in general (and I’m especially glaring at you here, Diggtards): addictive and addicting are not! frigging! synonyms!

With this baby image and more.

Amusing.

This shit is addicting!

Drugs are addictive!

Depends on what I'm talking about. I don't see why it matters tbh.

Things are addictive, not addicting.

Addicting is the process of being addicted to something (OR IT SOUND LIKE IT RIGHT), not the property of being able to making someone addicted.

Addicting infers there is something that inherently makes anyone who comes in contact with it addicted.

Addictive suggests that some people might get addicted to it.

"Addicting" isn't even in my little Oxford English Dictionary that I have here (I always keep it by my desk) so the word is definitely addictive.

Well, neither is any verb ending in -ing. You have to look up the root word.

That's probably what Kat did.

So, Iron Kat couldn't find 'addict' in the dictionary?

You can't blame her, she's from Manchester.

I bet the people that chose addicting feel silly.

Zing?

this is weird, I was reading a discussion about this in a thread on SA yesterday. It's "addictive" as an adjective, "addicting" is a verb form. Using addicting as an adjective is wrong afaik.

*ignores Dekstar's jibe above*
I have asked my dad if the word "addicting" exists and see it doesn't. He has two degrees, one from Oxford.
End of.
