ARRRGGGHHH i am so annoyed!!!
on friday, for no apparant reason, i could not load up halflife2.net. I was getting 70 kb/s, i was loading up websites reletavely quickly and i have NTL 600k broadband. Halflife 2.net was running slowly (but not that slowly) as usual, then i tried to go to a forum and WOOAA!!! errror message, saying the web page coulnt be found or something. "the webpage maybe having difficulties" etc, u know.
Then, 2 days later, it worked again just as suddenly as it stopped.
AND ITS JUST HAPPENED AGAIN AND ITS ONLY JUST STOPPED!
arrrrm i tried fiddlinh with my internet options, nothing. Everyone else could load up the page, just not me! everything else ran fine! So i dont think it was my connection, as like i said i was getting 70 kb/s DLing from america. But if its not my connection what can it be?
if in doubt, blame NTL.
anyone have any suggestions incase it happens again?

It happend on BT as well.....

I think it happend on NTL because they use the BT system lol...

you know, every six days or so this site goes down for a full 24 hours (sometimes more), but it seems to be only for me. Everyone else gets on just fine...

may i just ask, who here finds Halflife2.net painfully slow at times, though from no fault of the connection speed?

ive been with NTL all my life...ive never had any probs with it at all :) i'm on the 600k service

I can load the site fast enough even when my connection is taking a crap. :)

Change the DNS servers to Demons or something. Fixes 99% of http related problems with NTL.

No more slow routing etc., pages load instantly... problem with NTL is their DNS servers are either broken or slow, takes 5+ seconds for the DNS servers to respond.

Demons are almost instant, as they should be.

You can change the DNS settings either in the network config control panel (if your cable is plugged direct in to the pc) or via the routers control panel.

The two Demon DNS IP's are: -

158.152.1.58
158.152.1.43

Enjoy.

NTL are apauling for ordinary internet speed-wise. I'm on the top package they do (1meg (1024/256)) and i get about 120kbps transfer on ftp's, but http runs shit.

um NTL are upgradeing there systems right now and personally I think there ISP service is better than most of the alternatives, I'm only on 128k.

It's not us per se , the site has been up al the time except when we're getting software upgrades .. however there does seem to be some dns fubar issues .. I myself couldnt access the site for 4 days .. then it just started working again :x

Oh and I'm ntl 1meg :x

errr, i see the DNS ip adress, but i cant actually change them.. howd u do that?

On the router or on the machine? I don't know your setup, but its pretty easy stuff. Just look around the connection/internet properties till you see the DNS boxes, and change the IPs.
