Ntl line upgrade

Anyone know a date when Ntl will be upgrading their broadband to the new speeds i.e. 300k - 1meg, 700k - 2meg and 1.5meg - 3 meg? I have searched Google, and it says from January to March, but i haven't heard anything more about it and the Ntl website doesn't have anything about it listed.

I believe blueyonder has upgraded its lines and the two (ntl and blueyonder) are closely linked, so it wouldn't shock me. In fact, I'd love it!

Any idea if they plan to upgrade the upload speeds. 128k is just plain crappy :/

Increasing download speeds is nice, as would be getting it for cheaper, but actually being able to share files with friends and host small servers would be very welcome.

OK.... this is the deal

NTL did announce speed updates a while back 'to keep it competative' ... since then, NTL have cut back on all spending in order to decrease their debt ... this involved cancelling upgrades to all network hubs throughout the country. Realistically speaking, the current network is in no fit state to give all users 1mb lines, let alone 2mb - 4mb lines.

As I said though, there has been a serious fight between the shareholders and the managers at NTL and needless to say, the shareholders won and theres not a lot of spare cash floating around NTL to do any sort of upgrade on the network.

Some places in Finland and Sweden are rolling out 1gigabit connections, and we still have problems hitting 3megabits .

I'm glad I'm not with Ntl anymore, I couldn't stand them. I thik BT are upgrading all their lines to 2mb for free on Thursday.
