An article excerpt from the Game.exe magazine (03.04) about S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl:
...Anton Bolshakov - vicepresident of GSC Game World, stated that he is satisfied with the partntership with the giant of graphics card industry. "nVIDIA does not demand any changes to the game that would emphasize any advantages of their own graphics cards. nVIDIA engineers help us learn the newest graphics technologies. Without them, we would have spent much time on idle experimentation.", says Bolshakov. He then reassures: "There are no scandalous details. Our relationship with nVIDIA is purely platonic. We do not get suitcases with money from them. They help us on the technical side (with our combined efforts we are now finilizing DirectX 9 support), and also use the game for advertising on TV, radio, and in the press. We in turn, gain access to important OEM deals, which allow us to gain $0.5-1 from each copy of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. put into a graphics card box. After the first wave of sales subsidies, and graphics card prices fall, this may become a very interesting sum. As you can see, this partnership is mutually benefitial." Also, Bolshakov has informed us that NV40 nVIDIA cards may come not with an OEM, but with a full version of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. This option is being discussed, although cautiously. He added: "DX8 render and instruments are completely finished. We have been spending all efforts on gameplay for almost half a year, and are approaching the "beta" stage. In parallel, we are also working on the DX9 render, which we will show at E3."...
Anton Bolshakov, GSC Game World: "The visions of technology of graphics chip designers and game developers must coincide. For example, the architecture of NV30-38 graphics cards was designed with consideration of the technologies of DOOM 3. The NV40-48 generation is designed with consideration of the technologies of the DX9 render of our S.T.A.L.K.E.R."
