Nvidia's 7950 GX2 card benchmarked.
It's SLI on one card!
It is supposed to be similar to 2 7900GT's in SLI mode. Faster core although slower memory speed.

It uses less power with a load than an X1900XT, nice.
If you only have 1 PCI-Express slot then you can still compete with SLI /Crossfire rigs that use highend cards.
It is a lot faster than a single 7900GT. lol

MSRP $600-650 USD.

The core clock loses 150 mhz compared with the non-OC'd singles. :\

heh, looks like a cool concept... might get one when they get down to the $300 or less range

and supposidly there's no support for quad gpu's yet, just need a driver.

Anandtech's chart says
470/450 core clock for 7900gt
500/500 core clock for 7950 GX2

660/1320 memory on 7900gt
600/1200 memory for 7950 GX2

Besides, there have been reports of a lot of people having issues with factory OCed Nvidia cards.

Errr I was thinking of the GTX... and I heard that about the OC'd ones... they work for a couple days or week and then shit the bed.

wow that wouldnt be hard at all probably to get 1300 out of the memory

but then again, dont you think that the bottom card gets poor cooling?

so this card can run on a single pci-e 16x no sli board needed?

That is correct.

Of course you could just get 2 of these and then have quad GPUs. :P

Yeah they are working on that. Although it won't work that way ATM. Unless you go to Alienware and buy their system which has quad sli. ;)

Whoops you're right, I didn't read Gamespot's article closely enough.

If you manage to get your hands on two GeForce 7950 GX2s, you can run them in a single system to enable Quad SLI mode. However, for the foreseeable future, Quad SLI configurations will only be available only through system builders.

according to thg this isn't nvidia's official quadsli setup anyways.

From what i have read on bit-tech, this new card is actually faster than 2 x 7900GT in sli

on the evga site it says that u need a min. 450 W psu w/ 28 amps on the 12v, so would a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817103931 get the job done seeing as it has 19 amps on 12V1 and 19 on 12v2? I'm just not sure whether you would us 19+19 or 19 on one card and 19 on the other seeing how this is sli ready and just using one of these cards would not be really sli but just one card needing 28 so would one need 28 on one 12v rail?

It will work fine. It is Nvidia SLI certified afterall.
