Nvidia folding client coming

Things not about gaming = completely useless?

I dont think the word 'client' is ever used when talking about gaming...

Eh. I don't know if I want to have my GPU running under full load for hours on end. :|
Unless they didn't figure out the correct way to cool the GPU...it should be no different than running the CPU 100% regarding stability. IF it does croak then that's the manufactures fault and should be covered under warranty.

Although it does produce more heat and take more power than folding on a quad cpu. But then again the new card should bring in more points than current ATI GFX cards. (current ATI gfx cards are faster than quads but the points are lower by about half)

greater strain??? it would put no more strain then you gaming on a game that was recently released with maximum settings running.

Simply put, the greater strain you put PC hardware under, the less time it lasts. I'd rather not shorten the life span of my graphics card... not to mention pay a bunch extra in electricity from the power consumed.
I doubt you'd run into the end of your GPUs life before you replace it with it 100%. I've had my A64 3000+ S754 for years and folding or video encoding (100% either way) and it is still kicking. The wear and tear is very low under proper conditions. OCing is much worse than running your stock parts at 100% and many people have old PCs still OCed and running fine. If you have your PC in a hot place or let it get dusty then that can be a different story...

But i'd still recommend picking CPU over GPU folding for less heat and power.

Heh, I remember when a 3000+ was all that was recommended to get a game working well even while newer stuff was coming and coming.
