Is this a good card to get? I've done some research on it, and in a review the performance was tested against the ATI 9800 Pro, and the FPS of both of them were pretty much the same more or less, but the GeForce 6600 GT tested faster.

Here is the link where I found this review.

I'm getting ready to buy a new video card and I want to make sure I get the right one without having to spend too much. I want to video card that's graphics display realistically.

Thanks!

I strongly suggest that you take this card:

Its 6800 GT 128mb and costs $323.30.

If you look on forums like hardforum or anantech you can buy 256mb GT's and x800 pro's for $330 shipped. I bought a pny 6800GT w/ vga silencer for $330 shipped. I also saw a ton of other deals.

Can you give me the link where you can buy 6800 GT 256 mb for $330?

The 6600GT (128Bit) is the better card overall. There are a few times the 9800 pro (256Bit) wins with AA/AF enabled though.
It's up to you depending on the games and resolution you use.

The 6800GT and X800Pros would be a big jump in speed for ~100$ more.

just stick with one of the current midrange card for a while. Until Ati, or even better Nvidia. comes out with some newer midranges

hardforum.com go to for sale/trade section and search
also anandtech.com then in their forums they have a similar section.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm a little concerned about how hot an X800 or 6800GT would run. I have 4 internal fans, but, would that be enough to keep it cool?

I have a mid range card right now, at least I think I do. GeForce 5200 FX.

6800's tend to run hotter than ATI's from my past experiences, but ymmv

Thanks.

Hey, does anyone have a screenshot that they can show me, (preferably a Half-Life 2 screenshot) on the Radeon X800, GeForce 6800 GT, and Radeon 9800 Pro? I want to see the difference in the graphics.

When they all have the same high quality settings you wont see any difference at all. What differs between them is the number of frames they can render per second.

i was accualy going to get the XFX 6600 gt 128, is XFX a trustworthy/good company?

So what you are saying is that all 3 of those have the same depth of graphics? I know that the fps is what we're talking about here, but I wasn't sure if the graphics of each card displayed the same realistic images.

The Radeon X800, GeForce 6800 GT, and Radeon 9800 Pro are all DX9 cards and can render all DX9 effects with ease. To top it off they all have very high Image quality abilities so they look indistinguishable when FSAA and AF are turned up to maximum. As i have said before the only difference you will notice is the amount of frames they can render per second.
