Ignore these idiots - I get a very playable framerate (60fps) with dx7 medium-detail graphics at 800x600 on my old OLD pc's AMD t'bird 1.4 with GeForce2 MX 400 - infact the screenshots are almost comparable to my 9800pros (although smaller, jaggier and lacking dx9 goodness) it's still VERY playable.

As I said, ignore the above idiots. If you want a nice framerate just ensure it's DX7 with details on medium at 800x600.

Omg. running hl2 with a fully complient 9x card at high-def resolutions on a 50inch wide screen makes me think that anything less is the devil.

The geforce 4mx is the devil also because it was a marketing ploy by nvidia to dupe you into thinking it was actualy a geforce4, where in fact it lacked nearly all the features, and was basically a souped up gforce2.

w/ hl2 its all about immersion.

HL2 runs just fine on a Geforce4MX, and apart from missing out on some DX9 effects, it still looks very nice.

Those who laugh at it and stroke their expensive cards are simply just as dumb for buying into the whole "ooh ooh buy this card its teh roxors" crap the companies pull.. Your cards are already out of date so stop acting like your all that.. You simply spent hundreds more on a card thats not much better and got stung far worse. numbnuts.

There's not a lot you can do other than run it at 800x600 with the lowest details.

If ever you do decide to upgrade though, a 6600GT would be a good choice.

I dont know how my computer runs it, but it does somehow. A 5 to 6 years old processor 900mghz, which is under the minimum specs. But still get playable fps.

Anyway i dont give a damn anymore, because next week i get my new pc:

AMD Athlon 64 3200+
1024 mb ram
XFX geforce 6800 128 mb

Lol you think thats bad !?!?!?!? I have ran CS:S on a Duron 800Mhz with a TNT 2 M64 in DX 6 mode! The game requires a DX7 card at least! (and yes it did look amazing )

i have an integrated Geforce4 MX 460 64 MB and i play HL2 in 1024 * 768 resolution with medium settings and it runs pretty well!
