Nvidia Users NO WAIT

I'm not really familiar with Nvidia at all. I was wondering if I should install the control center or just the drivers? Is it bloated or what? Is there a better 3rd party option for configuring the settings?

I don't want to overclock, but I'll need something to switch resolutions and fine tune the graphics settings.

Most worrying for me is the fan controller. I want something that just works. I think I killed my ATi card when my fan controller application hadn't loaded at start up or had crashed for some reason.

Thanks Asus.

So to all the Nvidia users, are you using the Nvidia control panel or a 3rd party app?

I'll probably just use the Nvidia one. If I find it's lacking, I'll try something different.

I use the default control panel for everything it lets me do. Only for overclocking, fan adjustments and detailed hardware monitoring do I use Rivatuner.

There's one default setting you'll want to switch. There's absolutely no reason to keep this set to 'Limited (16-235)' unless you're using a 15 year old cheap CRT in a sun-lit room. I haven't the slightest clue why this isn't set to 'Full (0-255)' by default.

edit: well perhaps because it overrules media player settings.

I've only ever used the Nvidia CP, I think I had to use Rivatuner a couple of years ago to set the "maxmum pre-render frames ahead" but these have been included in the Nvidia CP for at least the last couple of year.

Thanks for that, just changed that on mine. Got a Samsung SM too.

Finally got the video card from my brother. Turns out the card is an X1900XT and not Nvidia at all! D:

Should be good to play my legacy games. The only game I have that might give me trouble is DiRT [1] (which was the last game I bought)

Runs Windows 7 Aero insane fast. If it could move things any faster or smoother, my eyes wouldn't' be able to tell the difference because this shit is butter.

And I can watch 1080p now, and I can play a video game (haven't played one since like 2008) So, I'm really happy.
