Obama claims Democratic victory

I won't be comfortable until Hillary admits defeat. Hopefully that will be soon. She's literally only hurting the party by holding out.

Could be a good thing. You could get all the Clinton supporters on Obama's side since the two of them could work together, without giving her enough power to over rule Obama.

Then again i'm from the UK, so what the **** do I know, right? :p

God damn it.
I don't want someone with little or no political expertise to be our president.

But Obama will be 100x better than having McCain as president, McCain'll just be another Bush.

What appalls me is the fact that many Clinton voters are so twisted that they flat out refuse to vote for Obama in the coming election.

Hillary's dogged refusal to concede defeat is not because she thinks she has a chance of winning this time, but because she wants to lay the groundwork for another attempt at the presidency in another 4 years or so.

If Obama loses to McCain, and there's even odds of that, Clinton needs just to wait out McCain's term then campaign for presidency again with the veiled message of 'The Republicans got in because you didn't vote for me when you had the chance, idiots! Don't make the same mistake this time, vote me in and let's say no more about it.' Pretty shameless power lust.

He's still not rid of her tbh. Even having lost, by saying she's 'open' to being his running mate she's making him look bad in the eyes of her Democratic sympathisers if he doesn't take her up on that 'offer.'

I suspect that Mccain will win anyway :(

republicans seem to be in the "lets wait and see" frame of mind ..the democractic race sure as hell fractured the democrat vote ..they could effectively hand the presidency over to the republicans

Obama is a great man, and I'm so glad he's won. I'm fairly confident that he will win over Mccain. We still have time to convince everybody Obama is the way to go, so let's get to it!

I have such a good feeling that he'll win, that I will place bets on it.

Yes we can!

I'm not mega enthusiastic about Obama to be honest. He's uppsettingly pro-Isreal to a silly extent. His healthcare plans don't go as far enough as I would like. And he will abandon the Iraq people to the mercy of islamists and fascists.

Hopefully his domestic social policies will improve the lives of your average working American, but really, if they are going to support such right wing parties, then they get what they deserve.

I'll probably end up deciding who to support from an international perspective.

Iran, Iraq, Isreal, Global Warming and liberal interventionism will be the majour issues for me. I may end up supporting Mccain, haven't really investigated the guy that much though.

I like Obama for the most part, but he doesnt seem to like the space program much, and I definitely dont like that. Most of his policies are decent enough, some of them I dont like but thats unavoidable with any candidate. McCain I also like, I definitely dont think he will be "just another Bush" but he seems like he could be a bit rash when under pressure, and frankly I dont know if hes cut out to be president because he seems uninformed or misinformed about a lot of things.

Im just glad Clinton is out. If she had beaten Obama, that wouldve been instant McCain vote for me.

You think Mccain would have been the lesser evil...?

War hero and ex Vietnamese POW he may be but that doesnt stop him bieng an ill informed bush clone...

Also it makes me laugh when people describe Obama as liberal. By European standards the choice between Obama and Mcain is the choice between either far right politics and 'holy batshit crazy neocon off your rocker extreme facism' far right! :p

... Obama isn't on the right when you take into consideration everything.

He may not be liberal enough for you, but he's far from conservative or being on the right.

I don't know about you guys, but it seems that Obama is just saying what we want to hear in order to get into the White House. He's stroking us until he gets into office. But then again all politicians are like that. :(

That is why i don't like him. If he cuts funding to NASA that means that thousands and thousands of people will be out of work. He wants to send it all to social programs. Without NASA the whole space coast might die.
;(

What, do you honestly think he's going to reneg on everything he said? Politicians can't accomplish all that they fight for, and some don't even attempt to do so, but I feel Obama will really make serious efforts towards progress in this country, especially since he's not married to activist groups that want to keep this country traditional and in the past like Bush and his types are.

Thats exactly the way I feel about Hillary. I dont think shes being at all truthful and I think she wants the presidency for her own reasons, rather than to help the nation. I dont trust her.

well, a lot of politicians are sociopaths anyways

Bush once said he wasn't going to do nation-building during his election. Look at where we are now!

This.

I hate Hillary. I think she's a **** who wants power, and I always have. It's really annoying because a woman president might have been cool, Hillary's just not the right pick for that title.

What confuses me is why so many Hillary supporters are so willing to support Mccain... more of the same, now that it's down to Mccain vs Obama.

....

That's ****ing illogical!

Because her "working class white" bedrock of support is backward and retarded.

Surprise surprise! Hicks won't vote for Osama!

Only by economic standards, from his domestic/foreign policy Obama is centre left by European standards.

Not sure if it's really fair to classify Hillary supporters as Hicks though. That just seems like baseless labeling due to outrage. Maybe if they did happen to be the hick type... but if they were, they certainly wouldn't have supported Hillary in the first place.

I'm not saying all Hillary supporters are hicks. But there's no denying that her large victories in many southern states can be heavily attributed to people afraid of "the other race" or the prospect of a Muslim president, and I'm sure many of the people who will switch over to McCain will do so for racial reasons.

As for why they'd find Hillary attractive in the first place, I imagine they're finding Democrat healthcare proposals attractive, or have turned against the war in Iraq, or simply wanted to see a woman as president. There have been a lot of things to get concerned over the past eight years.
