On a state visit to the US, Gordon Brown gave Obama an ornamental pen holder made from the timbers of the Victorian anti-slave ship HMS Gannet, which is also the sister ship of the ship the President's desk is made from. In return he gave Gordon Brown some DVDs and gave back a gift given to the US after 9/11.

Even Bush didn't do something that stupid.

where does it say he gave back a gift given to the US after 9/11? cant find it

Not really, the bad gesture was giving it back not removing it from the office.

yes that's what people do with loaners

the bust was a loaner from former British prime minister Tony Blair following the September 11 attacks.

the story of the dvd set stands well by itself

The DVDs included some smash hits, including Thighs Wide Open, American Booty, The Temple of Poon, and horror masterpiece, The Texas Dildo Masquerade.

Hanna Does Her Sisters, On Golden Blonde etc

from comments on the interwebs:

"The wife of Brown had (seemingly) hand-picked some gifts for the Obama daughters, and Michelle Obama just got Brown's two boys some Air One helicopter toys from the gift shop."

I think the loan was intended for more than 8 years. Considering it's symbolic of an alliance in the war on terror they both support and isn't over.

lol, akward.

Although it is kind of sweet in a naive way.

Maybe Obama doesn't like Churchill? He wasn't too fond of black people and arabs, I believe...

yes which explains:

"A bust of Abraham Lincoln--Obama's historical hero--now sits in its place"

Hmm, Lincoln didn't like black people either. He should get one of Oscar Wilde.

he loved black people. he owned several

Except he didn't own any slaves. Where do you get this notion? There's no evidence that Lincoln owned slaves.

I mean, unless you're just making a joke, which is cool.

Jeez, nitpick over a gift. It's the thought that counts. Better than getting no gift at all.

Raz, he was talking about Oscar Wilde whom Monkey mentioned.

Anyways, whats the big stink? We dont even know what dvds they were. What if it was the HD collectors edition of Blade Runner? A pen holder doesnt come close. Not even one made out of some old shit wood from an old ship that nobody has ever heard of.

Raz, he was talking about Oscar Wilde whom Monkey mentioned..

Ahh okay then.

This is how I read the conversation. Entirely reasonable on my part.

yes it was a joke and yes it's a long held rumour/conspiracy that he owned slaves even though there's no evidence to back it up. you missed the funny. I should have ended the sentence with this to make it absolutely 100% clear for the humouressnessly challenged

Obama is now like the rich uncle that gives out socks for christmas.

Chill, man.

Would brown DVDs even read properly?

Umm... okay. Is your response as you have laid it out really necessary?

What you find funny doesn't necessarily mean I'm going to find it funny.

And I already said if it was a joke, then that's cool. Because I wasn't trying to be malicious.

I mean, unless you're just making a joke, which is cool.

So relax.

I wrote that post 3 times ..that was the least rude of the bunch :)

What you find funny doesn't necessarily mean I'm going to find it funny.

but why should that concern me at all? I wasnt replying to your post

And I already said if it was a joke, then that's cool. Because I wasn't trying to be malicious.

I'm sorry but that's what I expect from stalkers: maliciousness

I don't care if it was The Monkey, you, Vegeta, Krynn or any other forum poster on here... I would have pointed the same thing out. If you actually examine the interactions I have with other people, it's pretty much the same across the board. Only when I make specific references about an individual that pertain to that individual, does it mean that I posted my response because it was that person.

Believe it or not, I do not stalk your posts. You happen to post a lot, and I respond to your posts a lot as a result. I respond to a lot of peoples posts. They don't accuse me of stalking. They don't have the history me and you have, but still, given that history that's still no reason to believe I am stalking your posts.

Even when I single your post out and make a reference that pertains to you and NOONE else, whether it be a jab or whatever, that still doesn't mean I stalked your post. That means I encountered it in a thread I was reading and chose to respond.

I don't see what is so hard to contemplate and understand about that. You are a very logical man. This unfortunately seems to always be a case of paranoia more than anything. Halflife2.net is a very small community all things considered, and we are bound to encounter each other every single day of the week that we post. It's inevitable.

Okay. So you have chosen to ignore the logic of my post. That's your choice, and I cannot make you see it if you just outright refuse to even though it is very sound. Very well. Carry on.

it's not that I refuse, it's that I couldnt care less. look I dont care, in fact put me on ignore or I can put you on ignore because I really dont care either way ..life's too short to get into these tiresome and incessant back and forths over trivial inconsequential matters. I've come to expect it from certain people in these forums and every now and then I bite back, whoop-dee-doo.

lets get into a 6 page discussion about it

I think raz's reading is just off today... everybody calm down and suck my dick.
