With just over three weeks until Election Day, the two presidential nominees appear to be on opposite trajectories, with Sen. Barack Obama gaining momentum and Sen. John McCain stalled or losing ground on a range of issues and personal traits, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.

Overall, Obama is leading 53 percent to 43 percent among likely voters, and for the first time in the general-election campaign, voters gave the Democrat a clear edge on tax policy and providing strong leadership.

McCain has made little headway in his attempts to convince voters that Obama is too "risky" or too "liberal." Rather, recent strategic shifts may have hurt the Republican nominee, who now has higher negative ratings than his rival and is seen as mostly attacking his opponent rather than addressing the issues that voters care about. Even McCain's supporters are now less enthusiastic about his candidacy, returning to levels not seen since before the Republican National Convention.

This one is looking to be like a landslide ladies and gentlemen.

I hope so...but for some reason I doubt it. He's up 51-41 on the gallup polls, too.

It cannot be stressed how much some of his victories in key states depend on the turnout of young voters. I hope many of these people will actually go vote instead of just chanting a mantra and staying home to watch MTV or some such shit.

As long as we continue to vote on computer machines that can be easily hacked nothing is a sure win, I wouldn't get so excited as to say that this is going to be a landslide. But yes, these polls do give me hope.

I'm going to go vote this weekend, especially considering that my state is actually up for grabs this year.

It'll be rigged at the last second.

That's pretty much the key, more walk with the talk. People need to actually get out and vote, not just say who they want to vote for and blah blah blah. Probably going to post some of the voting posters along with the Obama posters at the campus so it will remind the kiddies that they actually have to do the voting part and not just the complaining part.

Polls have been looking phenomenal for Obama in the past week or two, but don't get excited just yet.

This is where I go for all my poll tracking needs:

According to their projection, based on all the most recent poll results, Obama has a 94% chance of winning the election.

for some reason i got the feeling if Obama wins he may get assassinated eventually but i really hope he dosnt

I visit that site everyday. It's good for a confidence booster, but it is easy to get overexcited.

Also, are you going take advantage of the early voting, since it starts this week?

Something that worries me is that with the stock market potentially bouncing back somewhat, I wonder how those people who hesitantly support Obama because of the economy are going to react. I'm worried they are going to see minor improvements in the stock market and instantly think, "YAY, ECONOMY IS NO LONGER AN ISSUE. YOU HAVE MY VOTE MCCAIN!"

McCain's also been slipping because the public has started to see him as increasingly negative and think he's dodging the issue of the economy by instead taking aim at Obama's TERRORIST-TINGED DANGEROUS CANDIDACY - something that may have worked well in two previous elections, but becomes a bit less important when Americans are watching their finances get crippled.

He's trying to soften the tone, so he says. But even with a recovery of the economy and a fresh foot forward, it's too late to really expect any significant turnaround.

Yep, I'm voting on Thursday I think

Here's hoping.

McCain's supporters at this point consist of a mass of riot-prone diehards. I'm scared of what they will do when Obama wins.

I still havent gotten anything in the mail about my voter registration. ****ers better not have screwed me out of a vote.

Let's just hope nobody sees this and thinks they shouldn't vote because they expect a landslide anyway >_>
