Odd problem with BitTornado

I'm trying to download episodes of 24 to stock up and watch, but every so often the torrent stops. The download speed hangs at whatever it was going at, the elapsed and time estimated counters freeze, but I can still click cancel or pause. When I pause it doesn't resume. I have to cancel and start up BitTornado up again.

Now it seems it's getting less and less effective. I've tried azureus with almost no luck and I'm trying shareaza now, but it seems to want to cap at 4Kb/sec sometimes (I've made sure settings are fine) and it never gets really fast on a torrent with thousands of seeds and peers.

Any help?

Try updating/reinstalling Java. I use Azureus and put bad speeds and sudden drops down to connecting with peers and im only 512kb/s connection. When im at home, im all green. here im all Yellow, my current router has some sort of NAT problem :rolling:

Check your router (ip forwarding) and firewall settings.

I forgot to say that my router settings are fine, they've been the same all along and they're all correct. I'll try re-installing java.

OHHH Come to think of it. I d/led AVG virus checker and scanned my comp a month ago or so. It found a few files in Java Sun that were allegedly viruses and deleted them, maybe that caused the problem.

Son of a...that didn't fix it. I thought it did for a while because it finished a torrent no problem but then it messed up the next time.

I dont know then...sorry. Try reinstalling BT etc and all of that. Also, use Azureus, it owns all else :D

azureus rocks, if you're having the NAT problem, you have to configure your router to put you in the DMZ
