odd watermark in the upper left corner of my screen

I'm running WinXP and this morning I noticed this odd watermark of a shadowed box in the upper left side of my screen. It stays over everything. I've tried rebooting, and it comes back. Here's a screen:

Reinstall XP.
Or maybe, but I doubt it:
Get new Drivers.

I think I had that problem before. One of the tip-box shadows didn't go away, even when the tip-box had faded away (you know, when you mouseover a button or list or something). And for some reason, changing my desktop resolution fixed it.

It might have something to do with Windows resetting and re-rendering all the window graphics on a resolution change. It's worth a shot, regardless.

try going to properties on my computer go to the advanded tab then click change settings on performance click the bubble that says best performance and then press apply. if it goes away then apply back to w/e it was before and see if it comes back
