Illustration: If you ever saw a black or hispanic person walking down the street, and you assumed either consciously or subconsciously that that person was a hoodlum, or you just found it hard to believe that that person might be a professional or a college student, then you are a racist.
Now I am not a sociology expert, but I know this much: odds are that you are a racist, regardless of whether you accept it or not. You were wrong in assuming that racists are only those who hate people of another race.
If you ever assumed that another person is inferior to you, solely because of his or her race, even if that assumption lasted a second and then you said in your head "no I am not a racist, I should be more open minded", it does not matter, you are still a racist.
So the next time you say "I am not a racist", ask yourself if you ever had a preconceived notion about another person solely because of their race; if you did, at least now you know that you are a racist and a liar.
