Oddworld:Stranger's Wrath

Just checked this months copy of Edge - Oddworld got a 9

I have to say that it looks fantastic, suprisingly so. (Halo 2 might be ejected from my Xbox (at least for a while))

The oddworld series has always been wonderfully varied, funny, and casually brutal. This hasn't changed one bit in Stanger's Wrath.
It hasn't stuck to the same formula - and is now a fps/stealth title. Luckily it looks like a very, very good one

(Unfortunately the PS2 version has been cancelled due to hardware limitations, so it's Xbox only)

"everything is so incredibly assured, the game engine never, ever creaks despite bearing an ubelievable load on its shoulders. It's actually funny, it's sleekly designed, it's rigged with imaginative characters and fizzes with life. Architecture is of a scale and intricacy rarely seen, mixing Halo's fat expanses with Metroid Prime's panoramic environmental details, all drizzled with Oddworld's slick organic style, giving cause to sightsee and lollygag at every other turn. It's frightening to think how anything of this generation can leapfrog it. But, ultimately, that's all the more reason to enjoy it."

Being a FPS, Stranger's Wrath is obviously very different to Odyssey and Exodus. However, it seems the game has remained totally faithful to Oddworld, and looks excellent (the best looking game of this generation infact)

On my 'must buy' list.

It seems the first half of the game is spent bounty hunting for cash Energy is rechargable (similar to Halo) and the main weapon (a crossbow) shoots two different types of live (as in living creatures) ammo lol. Of course, each ammo type has it's own specialities and you can mix and match them to allow for deadly combos (again, another nod to Halo) Add plenty of stealth elements and the ultra sick and violent humour that goes hand in hand with Oddworld and this sounds great \o/

Oh yeah Warbie...this game looks sweet.

I've had my eye on it for a while....totally fired up. The outdoor enviroments look sooo well-done and the weapons look very unique. This has the making of a sleeper that's gonna sneak up on everyone. Looks great.

But is it similar to the first ones, even though it's an FPS? Meaning you still order those random people around, and can control enemies bodies? I guess Edge giving it a 9 must mean something at least, but still... no xbox. Haha.

It sounds completely different to the previous titles (other than sharing it same gameworld, along with all it's violence and sick humour )

I was mildly interested untill the recent Edge review (the series had gotten rather tired of late) However, like you said, an Edge 9/10 definately means something. This looks like a very good game indeed (certainly one of the most promising announed so far this year, imo)

The previous Oddworld games were great in my opinion, haven't heard much about this one but it appears to be just as good.

The games fun, till you get about halfway through it, then it gets boring, repetitive, and slightly frustrating. The bow-gun is basically his only weapon apart from his melee attacks. You can shoot i can't remember how many diffrent types of ammo. Also each ammo is upgradeable.

I never played a oddwordl game but this one sounds cool cuz it hav a feel like be a criminal or something like that and everyone is against you

for example are a banner in some sites about this game and are cool cuz it begins whit the pic of the character and say something like "you hav no past" and the character appear like hideing behind a wall and behind appear a lot of creatures and its say "and from the looks of things....no future" coolest banner ever

I have to agree - the first XBox title was very poor.

Don't let that put you off tho, this looks very tasty indeed.
