So I had a writing assignment this week in which I had to write an ode. I thought my fellow bacon worshippers might appreciate it.
O bacon, most lovely item of food
Available to mankind, you truly are:
A blessing to people, making all taste good.
An equal food, fed even to the stars.
Fatty, lean, thin or thick-cut, streaky, bits,
You come in all sorts of variations
For those who consume you devotedly.
If they don’t like pig, (which confounds my wits)
They can eat a turkey simulation.
I disagree with this whole-heartedly.
Derived from an animal, flesh and blood,
Some won’t devour you, very bizarre.
Like all things, you have a side that you hood.
As Sir Gaffigan once said, though afar
“The one bad thing about bacon is it
Makes me thirsty…for more bacon.” Stationed
In the freezer section, stacked hurriedly,
I cannot help but desire all of its
Deliciousness, full of satisfaction.
Yet I know there will always be much more.
