Well I've packed all my stuff, thrown out a lot, and shipped a few things to my parents and I am leaving tomorrow for another bicycle trip. The plan is to get from Vancouver to Los Angeles. If I time it right, I will hit Canada in Canada, and Independence Day somewhere in Washington.

You will hit Canada in Canada eh?

Anyways, good luck!

Do you have a cushoned seat? My mom bought one for her bike, it's really nice and comfy. My bike doesn't have one, so my seat totally hurts my arse after an hour of riding.

That's what I meant. I also need a good idea for a last date with the girl I just started seeing like last week, just before I'm leaving (not thinking very smart here). It's frickin hot here, and I've been packing stuff all morning, I was thinking just hanging out with smoothies and a picnic and play some frisbee.

You can't just leave gals man.

Also, there is a Canada Day?

America doesn't have an American Day........

Unless, Canada Day is simply like America's 4th of July.

Are you cylcing the whole way. Please tell me more, I really like the whole idea. How do you manage the logistics?

Go swimming somewhere nice - that's usually a fun date.

We ended up just playing Frisbee and Scrabble in the park. Then later got dinner, and went for a walk over the bridge. She missed her bus home, so we had some more drinks and desert and then picked up a box of my old paintings and notes and things and went down to the beach to make a fire and slept out on the sand with a blanket. So in the tradition of my bicycle trips, I am going to be starting again with about 2 hours of sleep.

Cycling trip huh?

I've been thinking of doing that here in the UK, maybe travel up north.

It's just the roads that trouble me, I mean I'd have to take all the minor roads obviously seeing as I can't use the direct motorways. Pretty sure I'd get lost at some point....

I'm in Portland, Oregon now. This city is crazy about bicycling, and full of hipsters. The public library is pretty awesome too. I've been watching a lot of sci fi tv shows on DVD from the library. I detoured off of the coast to stay with some friends I met cycling in Washington. They took the bus to Olympia and then drove down, and I rode 130 miles on Saturday to get here. It was my longest day ever by a lot. The US coast is way more populated than Canada, and there are lots of cyclists everywhere.

P.S. does anybody in SF have a couch to crash on or a place I can get a shower and do some laundry? I'll probably be there sometime next week.

wow i want to do that

/dusts off bike

I wouldn't do that till the apocalypse. Then it's wander around.

Also, good luck.

I want to do something like that one day, too.

Good luck man, that is awesome.

Just like your uncle bilbo

I'm in Sydney you can crash at my place, if that helps?

It probably doesn't help. But if you're riding in sydney...one day....

:frown:

I wanna do that ... but I dont have a bike :(

Same here :(

I don't know if we even have any San Fransisco members here Dan, so you might be out of luck.

The hospitality seems to be great in that city, I'm sure you could find something! Maybe a little bed and breakfast type place if you had to?

That is just awesome.

How many miles do you bike a day? I hope to be in enough shape to be able to do something like this one day.

I'm still alive, and in San Francisco now. The California coast is colder than I thought it would be.

I was wondering if you were coming back Danman

'dog driving car' is cool

Maybe I would like to do something like this, but probably with a motorcycle instead.

It gets so insanely hot here in the summer, a motorcycle would be good because of the breeze and lack of exertion.

so have you gotten any slack from authorities for pitching a tent anywhere yet?

Dude, it's freaking hot out where I am...

San Francisco is a lot colder than Vancouver is.

Are you a keen photographer because some of those pictures are mint.

Good to see your travels are going well Dan, traveling is such a fantastic thing for the mind. Where to next? Also how many miles have you covered do you reckon?

About 2000 and some odd miles counting my trip in June.

I just pick out the better pictures. I could touch up the colours and levels in photoshop though and make them look real purdy if I had my own computer here.

Well looks like the adventure is on hold for a while. While I was writing the last post, my bicycle got stolen outside the San Francisco library.

heh, that's classic 'frisco. Seriously though, are you stranded? It's only about 3 hours from where I live.

I might be. I have a room for tonight atleast. I'll see how it goes tomorrow.

PM me if you need a ride somewhere.

edit - so is all your stuff gone too? This sounds like a real drag!

Oh shit. I'm so sorry to hear that. It's a long shot, but you should still make a police report.

When I was like 10, my first bike was stolen out front of a store not long after I got it. I cried the whole way home. On foot.

It was one of the first chrome bikes and looking back, it's like duh. Ever since then I always lock everything. Keep people honest.

Hey Dan, how the heck do you manage to avoid all the goddamned idiot non-drivers out there? I nearly got killed on a bicycle once for that reason, and totaled my bike too. :frown:

If I ever find that person whoever drove a white Escalade, I'd punch out every f**king window and slit every f**king tire because now,
I can't even enjoy a simple bike ride anymore because of that retard.*end of rant*

Anyways, good luck Dan! :)
