The popular Off-Limits mod, in which two teams and a tiny, lethal alien play out an infinitely complex and brutal three-way game of cat and mouse amidst the twisted ruins of a post-invasion Earth, has released to WIP videos of their vehicles system, that will allow passengers to lean out and fire with hand weapons at high speeds. They've also been beavering away at creating custom player animations to fit, and it's shaping up quite nicely. Multiple-position vehicles = fun incarnate.[br]</br>

Looks pretty good, love the multiple seating positions.
Why they need a ported truck exhaust is beyond me though.

The handling is far too nimble, especially because it's a 2cv, makes it more fun if a car is a pig to drive.

looks nice.

edit: nederland ! (of belgie !)

Looks cool. Map looks empty. Hope they arnt that simple when the mod comes out.

The map is still very much WiP yes, the end result will look more like this:

(This screenshot is also taken in a small testmap, so were still testing out the lighting/mood, it's all WiP.. were a small team ... :p ).
But don't let this video fool you, you only see 1/10th of the map size.. so for big map sizes we have to balance with performance/graphics, but it should still be doable and apealing to the eye at the same time :)

About the 2CV exhaust, it's just my view of a post-apocalyptic 2CV I guess, I just made it like that, cause I thought it looked cool lol

Don't get me wrong: the Source engine is a nice kickass engine for FPS games but do you think the vehicle code / handle in Source sucks compaired to ie. BF2?

I didn't report it, I swear D:

But I watched them when they were released and, as always, they're a castle of awesome.

Sounds like a cool system.

Belgium ftw by the way :D

I like the viedo, good work so far, keep that crazy shit coming....

Its probably just the buggy from hl2 with a different shell:(

The code to do the actual driving physics is valve's physics engine if that's what you mean, yes. Other than that it's a custom model, custom rig, custom animations and a looot of custom code to put all that together. The driving feel itself, that's still on my todo list, but it should be very possible to get a mùch better driving feel than the HL2 buggy using valve's engine.

Vehicles will be an extra in Off Limits, they'll not play as crucial a role as in BF style games; but they should be fun, and add a strategy option or two. As for the bad driving, that would be me. It's not easy on a laptop touchpad when you're in bed half a sleep and don't want to give your wife the old elbow-in-the-face :p

Very cool.

then god made Simon, giving him awesome modeling skills but shit hair (and not a lot of it...) anyway...............still a great looking mod, cannot wait to see them trashed Cars simons made (taxi + police car), as oposed to the usual cars used by ALL the hl2mods.
keep up the great work

Looks great, only I got my hopes up for them acually leaning of out the car instead of just shooting from inside it. Cant wait to see the end result.

Yeah, was posted a bit incorrectly. Leaning out would be possible, but imo it would be a bit cumbersome and have no real added value over shooting from the inside. And it would mean a lot of extra work (this was a lot already). But we can easily have some cars where one of the passengers leans out by default for instance, that can be done just by rigging & animating, and modifying a script.

Am I the the only one thats expecting to see some sort of Technical....

O.o

Multi person vehicles! Awesome!

Loving the excuse for the **** driving, too :P

No, I see the technical as well. Look out, it’s technical.
