Hey guy's (and gal's)

I know i haven't been around for what seem's like a life time but...

My Grandfather lost his battle with Cancer in december just gone.

It's been a daily event for the last 7 odd months, popping in everyday to see him, talk about "the war", childhoods, dreams, passions etc... what my ambitions are etc... then checking to see how my Nan was coping, doing odd jobs etc...

Max'ing, Hammering and Gaming for me has gone out the window, along with pretty much everything else. i've literally been work, hospice, Nans, bed, work, hospice, Nans... no time for anything really. I'm not complaining, every second with him was a pleasure and i'm thankful for the time we did have with him.

Anyway, I've decided to do something off the wall, and in memory of my Grandad i will be cycling across Vietnam in November this year where i aim to raise several thousand pound for Cancer Research and St Anne's Hospice along the way

Can i please ask you all to go to my site: www.cycle4charity.org and sponsor me.

Even if you all sponsored me a pound each, it all helps 2 very worthy charities that help treat cancer patients

Cancer has or will affect every one of us in some way, please help to put things right

Thanks

Steve

PS i got not time to do any more max'ing n sh!t now.... i'm out training on me bike!! :D

PPS Cwmcarn mountain trail is NOT moderate!! (the lying little basta.. does lungs & arse bring anything to mind

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Scam?

It's a great thing you're doing and if I weren't broke as hell I'd probably be sending something to help your cause. Anyways, good luck

How is asking for donations a scam? Only people who want to donate money will click the link.
And if you actually looked at the site instead of trying to sound smart you'd see that he put a lot of work into it.

I still wont donate dough over the net. Glad to do it in person, but not over the net.

seriously, i had some respect for you before, but now you have lost all of it, and i think that i was the only one that had some respect for you... :|

all you had to say was "i cant lend you the funds to help you out" or what could have been better is that you could have never posted at all.

Alert the Humanity Police, I dont donate to charity over the net. Even though I give 10% of all my income to my Church, which is known for being one of the largest charitable organizations in the world.

Btw, i wasnt trying to sound smart, its not usual for someone to use two words in a reply when "acting smart" is their intention.

I would support you, my Grandpa died last year from cancer also, but I have no money - at all - sorry.

just so you know, i understand that you dont give money out to people over the internet, but you didnt have to come into this thread and just make a worthless post about how you dont do it. it just makes you seem like a selfish bastard that doesnt care about anyone but yourself.

Why is everyone screaming at Uriel for thinking this may be a scam?

This is the internet. Do you know how easy it is to set up a PayPal account, make a website, and then ask people to donate to you for any reason?

I'm terribly sorry if you are sincere, but if you are honest... you must realize that this is an internet forum. On the internet. Key word: internet. A place where you are completely anonymous. The easiest place to scam, steal, cheat, and lie.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss, but if you continue to ask internet forums, I can assure you that you will be getting similar replies. Good luck.

It's just the way he said it, with the unecessarily long "uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" :)

Only because its HL2.net

I'm not sure I understand--should we send money because of your cycling trip, or for cancer research? And, if the latter, why not just send money directly to the research cronies?

My grandpa died of cancer as well. This isnt a scam. You would have to be pretty ****in low to scam off of something like this.

yea this is a very nice thing your doing, i hope it goes well for you

I agree. I'd do it in person, but not online.

People scammed the WTC incident. People will scam anything.

The sheer fact that it would be sick to do doesn't mean its not possible, you know.

As Uriel said, people scam anything.

Woooow, didn't mean to start a slagging match or anything...

But, to those who doubt, yes, this is genuine, if you don't believe me, contact Cancer Research Uk and St Anne's Hospice, both will confirm this is for real.

Sorry if i've offended anyone but if you don't ask you don't get...

And yes, i realise the "net" has some right tw@s but i also believe there are alot of sincere people who will donate to the cause.

Thanks anyway

Steve

It's cool man, I wasn't offended or anything. Hopefully I didn't offend you.

But yeah, good luck with all that :)

I don't know why you are all beating on Uriel like that. Granted, his way of putting it was a little extreme, but charities, whether online or not, are often very untrustful. Even if the workers truly work to find donations for their cause, where the money ends up is usually the work of a businessman, and it's hard to trust businessmen. Even well known charities such as the salvation army have been known to do shady stuff.

If you want my advice, donate your money directly to the foundation in which you beleive, that gives you a much larger chance that every single penny donated will be put to good use. Schools always have awareness/money raisings for different tragedies, so if you or your children attend school, you can safely donate money to them as schools have incentive to donate a lot of money (competition with rival schools, etc...)

If your goals are noble, The Smokster, and I'm sure they are, I apoligize, but it's the simple truth.

Best of Luck.
