The famous line. To the famous question. We can apparently do everything with the source engine, yet they aren't doing them in HL2. It makes me wonder, will Source really be able to do all the things stated by Valve that they didn't implement, but we could? If so, what will you guys be doing with Source?
 
if i was a modder i'd make a half life esque theme and mood type game with a max payne style gameplay
 
make a an office building furnished with computers, desks, tables, chairs, coffe machines, water tanks, bathrooms, windows, carpet, phones, lights, shutters, books, papers, screens, everything you can possible imagin in an office building, and everything is COMPLETELY destructable, down to the square inch of an object. it would be an exact replica as if you were to go into a building with a gun/crowbar destroying everything. floors would break below you, walls would crumble, glass would shatter destroying other object, etc etc. who wants to make it?
 
One thing bate18, though it is probably possible, too much stuff may not work. And hell while your at it, throw in 30-40 npcs as office workers to add to the mayhem. ;)
 
i can actually hear your computer exploding just tryin to calculate all that when a single object is moved, or destroyed

npc would be crucial. it would be a single player mod though. the only point would be to destroy everything in sight on every floor and eventually take the entire building down from the outside. of course there would be dozens of ways to take it down. one huge tnt blast in the underground parking or maybe take out the main structure supports one by one. etc etc
 
think of what would happen if you made your program simulate a network crash, npc's scurring around everwhere screaming
 
I mean I think the idea could be done. You'd have to make the building out of wood most likely, or steel, but not concrete because having deformable terrain is fine but to calculate an entire building collapsing with all objects and npcs inside reacting as should would require like a 10ghz processor.

i guess we'll have to wait until a 10ghz processor comes out then
 
I'm going to simulate an earthquake. I'm also going to create displacement maps using nasa/jpl mars imagery and explore the mars terrain in a chopper or something that can fly. I have no idea how I’m going to do this but I will….oh yes I will.

I'm making a space combat mod :)
Did one in hl1 but gave up because hl2 was on the horizon. Bad decision, little did I know how long it would take ;(
