A Tempe police officer seen in a televised video telling two African-American men they could get out of a littering ticket if they rapped apologized Wednesday and said it wasn't his intention to offend anyone.

Neither Sgt. Chuck Schoville nor Officer Brandon Banks, who produced the cable television show, received any disciplinary action, according to an administrative review released Wednesday.

See Mr. Hool...he didn't mean anything by it ;)

I am glad to hear there was a happy conclusion to this story :D

I'm disappointed I don't get to see some flaming lyrics here :(

It didn't look like the people were being offended. Bah, NO I'M NOT GETTING INTO IT AGAIN! ;) I already stated my reasons in the other thread. I thought you forgot about this when the hl2.net incident happened?

lol this is hilarious, i didn't see the other thread

lol. It's OK Hool..we all have different opinions on things. Yours was to get angry and try to throw your racism on others so you don't get found out. It's coo'

:p

It's funny cause it's true. Still though I mean make the black guy's sing?

It's not something you would want to do because some people might take it the wrong way but it does seem rather harmless. I'm glad he didn't get punished for it.

It's stupid, its cruel and unusual punishment basically, and I am glad he apologized...I wouldn't want to see the guy get officially repremanded, but an apology was definatley in order.

Cruel and unusual punishment? I got the unusual part, because it sure was..but cruel? I'd understand if the kids were pissed, but they didn't give a rats ass. They were laughing, happy..the enjoyed it.

I guess people will just throw their opinions out like it's everybodies

Oh come on - if it's all in good fun then I don't see the problem.

Pff, he didn't even apologise in rhyme.

-5 awesome points.

ya but you cant fault them for being to too stupid to realise they're being made fun of ...found it dehumanising but really did this need national exposure? no amount of apology will make these officers any less stupid anyways so it just adds to the humiliation

I make fun of people's crappy taste in music all the time. Everything from the droll country to the stupidly offensive and pointless rap.

The officer wasn't doing any of that. See the skull on mars thread? People are reading too much into that, when it's probably a rock. Well, people are reading too much into this. You see in that video a jovial, good humored police officer, who doesn't once give the two guys a questionary glance or cruel statement... and people are eager to scream racism. And for what? It's good to protect the two men in any event that they might be the subject of racism, which they weren't... but nobody cares that it might tarnish the reputation(perhaps good reputation) or somebody who was wrongly accused of being racist?

Pity the fool who orders an Aunt Jemima brand syrup bottle at the supermarket, and gets held up in line by people accusing them of supporting racism just because they like the good taste, and perhaps good value.

I dont even think it was racist ..that's the simple explanation ...no it had more to do with authority and classism

that's not my responsibility, nor do I really care either way as they're cops they should know they're under public scrutiny at all times ..as they should be because after all THEY work for us, not the other way around

really wasnt an issue of racism ..perhaps superficially one could argue that it was however this was more akin to making a monkey dance for a few coins ...it's dehumanizing ..the very fact that the majority of people cant see that aspect of the story makes it that much more depressing

You have another thing coming to you when you get to the real world if you think that's "cruel and unusual punishment"

I hear where you are comming from, Stern. I just think people woke up that morning, said to themselves, "I'm going to bitch about the FIRST thing I see!"

They see this rap video, viola. All the effort and energy used to complain about that could have been used for something more important, like passing gas for gods sake. Then again, alot of what goes on in the world could be said in that manner. That's besides the point. I see your point, I second it, but just think this entire thing should have been...far less trivial.

Yeah, ****in cop ****in piggie pig pig 5-0 mother****in po-lice. Need to sort out their attitude and stop 'classing' people.
