To sumarize it for you guys, it basically admits to the rough release problems, that they are working on new/more/better content servers, and updated steam installers and version coming out tomorrow.

And is it just me, or is steam being a LOT more cooperative lately? For the first time since Steam 1.0's release I was able to launch DoD, and after three attempts, play it! Right now it seems to be freezing/hanging a lot on resource verification.

Despite, I am very happy. Beta was great and reliable, and I was almost about to doubt 1.0's ability.

notice them saying NOTHING about hl2

Erm? In what way is this surprising?

It's the STEAM news page, not the Valve news page.

It "hangs" on resource Verification for me, but when I used WON it seemed to just count down for a long time and I'm assuming that they are the same thing.

Most of Steam's bugs were due to the overloaded Content servers, that's why it has seemed to improve. There is more available bandwidth because less people are download content.

I'm asking why you think they would talk about Half-Life 2 on the Steam news page?

The page is for Steam news, not general Valve news.

lol, feath has a point.

Yeah, I was well aware of the overloaded content servers. Right now it seems the most common problem is the resource verification deal. I will 9 times out of 10 timeout during this process. In the beta it often only took 30 seconds or less, now it goes for 3+ minutes without end.

Hope this is pumped out soon.

And for the content servers, I think they are currently fine. Day one my downloads were 8-10kb/s, now I am getting 1.2mb/s.

I think I'm right in assuming the resource verification dealie is thanks to not having the stuff downloaded fast enough.

Granted this wasn't an issue under the Beta but I guess it's because there was a lot more bandwith floating around then.

I have everything in every game/mod downloaded entirely, so I dunno. I think it more or less is part of cheat protection in that it checks your files for discreptancies or possible threats. I will have to ask...
