Gamespot has put the official trailer up. Its no difference to the shaky cam video, except that its got better clarity. Its slightly smaller in size as well, but the clarity makes up for it.

The sound is a lot more audible as well.

BTW, don't be put off by the magical trees springing back to life after being knocked down, I believe this game is still pre-alpha.

Its also nice to see the monkeylords a lot better too.

/faints.

this will suck YEARS of my life like ta did.

graphically, it looked a bit better too, seemed like aa was turned on & other things.

the high def trailer is also on the nets (from gamespy, the one you have to register for) and it's pretty awesome,

Are there individual troops in this game too? Like hundreds of em onscreen at once?

what do you mean ?

you build a single 'unit' from a 'factory' and they're all separate units and you can do the usual things like select different types/amounts of units and form them into groups and so on.

so, when you build a little pee-wee (lol) mech or something, it comes out as a single unit, not a 'squad' like in some rts'.

i think that answers your question.

I mean... are actual soldiers represented... or is everything mechanical?

everything has a model and a position in real time 3d space

btw, they had around 4000 planes on the screen at a time according to one dev.

in ta the story was that all fighting had become/evolved into that of mechanical units.

intro from ta:
What began as a conflict over the transfer of consciousness from flesh to machines escalated into a war which has decimated a million worlds. The Core and the Arm have all but exhausted the resources of a galaxy in their struggle for domination. Both sides now crippled beyond repair, the remnants of their armies continue to battle on ravaged planets, their hatred fueled by over four thousand years of total war. This is a fight to the death. For each side, the only acceptable outcome is the complete elimination of the other.
if that doesn't answer it.. i give up. :p

im not a big fan of rts games but this game is starting to make me one.
