Well this cracks me up.....A perfect example never ever to link a single player game to a online watchdog...lol...ummm Valve, HL2 won't start now....I'm calling the better buisness bureu (wow I think I might) LOL

chimp...get a life, I missed one leter :p....nite d/s..steam sux

If you really don't like it, then you shouldn't have bought hl2.

You knew that steam was/is an integral part of it, and if you really didn't want it, then you have no right to complain.

Hazar we didn't know it was going to be this pathetic [steam].

if some people knew what a nightmare this would be, i bet they wouldn't have bought it, or they would've gone to a illegal copy.

So we should get rid of steam because it is currently suffering a few hours of downtime (first downtime to my knowledge I might add) for some people during the least busiest time?

Ya thats a good reason. Nothing ever works perfectly, if you can't wait a few hours for a problem to be fixed then you are simply very impatient.

It shouldn't have even been broken in the first place. DO they actually test these patches before they push them out the door? "It works on Gabe's computer, good enough!" It's not just about HL2DM not working, it's the fact that I can't play the single player offline game that I bought. Not acceptable.

Pathetic.

a few hours ? if i remember correctly people are still [including me] getting the memory crash since it was released.

than of course there are the people with the securom errors etc.

i just installed farcry, it took a few miuntes, than another few minuts to download a patch .. and look, everything is working dandy. they could do it this way for hl2, but no they want to 'stop' warez.

So your blaming Steam for the problems that you think may have been caused by a patch?

If it was the patch then Steam is not to blame at all since faulty patches can be released for any game.

Also I somewhat doubt it is a completely untested and faulty patch considering there are currently over 2,500 players playing HL2DM as we speak.

No, we should get rid of it because it installs faulty updates without any warning and no way of return.

For any other Singleplayer-Offline game I get the update only if I have problems with the game. Furthermore I check forums etc. for issues and install if necessary, with the option to do a full reinstall if something fails.

Dare you, little customer, not with Valve! If we want you not to play HL2, you will not play it. Period. No matter how many bucks you threw into our pockets.

What a joke.

Whatever next game Valve will publish, if it's a steam game, only a fraction of those who buyed HL2 will get it legally. If it's not steam, Valve's image is down the toilet too. Sure bet.

Oh the irony. HL2 is all about a civilisation under big pressure like in 1984 and here comes Valve, doing the same thing to their customers.

Kashban

And to add even more irony to that, Kashban :
I'm having a shitload of video problems with a videocard which included the ATI voucher which got me the game in the first place!
A videocard that gives you a game with it that doesn't work right with it.
