Here you can find the Battlefield 2 system requirements given to us by DICE:

Target Minimum Specification Machine:
1.7 Ghz CPU
512 Megabytes of RAM
128 MB video card (must support 1.4 shaders)

Recommended Specification Machine:
2.66 Ghz CPU
1024 Megabytes of RAM
256 MB video card

IMO : If you want all the eye candy AA 8X- AF16X

P4 3.0 or higher AMD 3200 64
2 gigs of RAM(not needed but wouldn't hurt)
256 MB video card X800 series or Nvidea 6800 series

How do you guys think it will run on a

P4 3.2GHZ
1gig of ram
9800XT 256MB

I plan on putting draw distance on 100% AA and AF on but not max, and most things on high and medium...what do you guys think? How can I make it perform better without spending 400 bucks on a new card?

BTW rename this to the "official will BF2 run on my comp thread"

just to add to this from the already painfully discussed system reqs in the BF2 thread

What are the specs on the computer you're running it on? What resolution are you playing it on and how does it run?
Hey can you mention the specs of the machine you were playing it on, and what res you were using?

These are approximations, but based on the various systems we've played it on:

1.8GHz, 64MB video RAM, 512k RAM - 1024x768, low details (still looks good, btw)

2GHz, 128MB video RAM, 1GB RAM - 1280 x 960, medium details

3GHz, 256MB video RAM, 1GB RAM - everything maxed (the videos you're seeing)"

There we go then, IGN do know what they're talking about, and I'm greatly inclined to believe what's quoted above. It makes sense - BF2 looks nice, but it's no behemoth that demands bumpmapping on every surface and whathaveyou. Only being able to reach medium detail on current-gen cards doesn't make sense at all.

that is as official as we can get when it comes to performance (until the demo comes out and you can test yourself)

I think that this info should be stickied as a ton of people keep asking.

Does the Geforce FX5600 support 1.4 pixel shaders?

can i just add mine too, and see what people think...?

i have

P4 2.6
512Mb Ram
GeForce FX 5200... :(

But this is what i want:

1gb Ram
Nvidia 6800GT.

i have a dell 8300 pc, and i have no clue what types to get...

are there different types of 6800gt's? and different type of 1gb ram? if so what are the right ones for my Dell 8300.

thanks for any help.

I'm currently above minimum system requirements and the medium details system. I should be able to run BF2 okay on medium details.

I really should upgrade my system sometime in the future for next-gen games.

Athlon XP 3200+
1024 MB RAM
Geforce FX 5900 (not ultra/pro/mx/etc just plain jane 5900)

I hate playing games at less than 1024x768. I can put up with an fps of between 40-60. What do you think of my chances?

Also max draw distance would be good.

BF2 will run on my rig:

AMD Athlon 64 3500+
2x 512MB dual channel 3200
Club 3d Ati X850XT w/ 256MB

I'm just not able to use my rig now, due to 'circumstances' (short version: it's at home and I'm not).

Yes there are different types of 6800gts. The difference is in the companies that modify them. For example the XFX 6800gt is over clocked and have a custom heat sink (I think). Same goes for the BFG. Some just don’t bother and just have a few games with it. Need to check your PSU first though because I think you need like a 450watt PSU for a 6800gt.

For the memory just get a stick of DDR 512mb Pc3200. That should be it. Let me just check some facts out first. Then I will edit my post.

Also can someone help him as well because I don’t know that much.

Edit: Whats your budget?
Edit2: Any know if the x800 xl is worth it?

When it comes to gfx cards most of the same name are the same card. Sometimes they will overclock it or whatever but they usuall say that it's been over clocked or call them "golden sample" or something. As far as price is concerned, compare price to what you get. If you don't want a game that comes in a bundle, don't buy that bundle cause you're paying for it. I wonder if any companies are planning to bundle BF2, that woud be worth it, if you don't mind not having a paper manual.

As far as RAM is concerned 512MB of PC3200 from a well known company. I've always gone with Crucial, I dont like the idea of paying for a colourfull heatspreader. I'm just not convinced they are needed.

Well, will it run on my computer?

2.6 GHz
512 MB RAM
RADEON 9600 SE

You should be able to run it on medium setting okay according to what they say.

Kore, if you get another stick of 512MB RAM, make sure it's the same kind as you already have. Otherwise it might not work.

i currently have 2 sticks of 256..

so im gonna have to either buy a 1x1gb stick, or 2x512...

have a look at this page, can any of you suggest which one i should get?

Ram for Dell 8300

Ram for Dell 8300

Get this kit:
1GB kit (512MBx2) DDR PC3200. They're just as expensive as the PC2700 but faster.

im considering it.. thanks alot shake  :cat:

My comp will run on medium or low in 1024x768 (fine by me). I'll probably bump it down to low for the extra fps.

AMD 2000+
1gb pc3200
9600 256mb

EDIT: My new comp should run it like a champ

AMD 64 3200+
1gb pc3200
6800gt OC'ed

i say low-mid settings.
get a 512 RAM and 6600 GT or 6800GT.

current system:

p4 2.6ghz
ATI 9800 pro 128mb
1gb 3200 ddr ram

dependant on the demo I might just go out and buy a new system.. it's about that time anyway.
although I will definately wait for the next gen gpu to be released (as whenever I buy components I only buy the best that is out at the time)

Like someone has already pointed out, I think you meant to say 2 Gigabytes of RAM. :p

I meet all those requirements for the high end. Look at my sig for specs. I just bought 1 extra GB of RAM the other week just for BF2 and future games.

Here's to BF2!!!!

My system should run it pretty good.

P4 2.4ghz
768MB DDR RAM
6800GT 256mb

Is this enough for all the eyecandy

P4 2.8GHZ
1GB RAM
XFX Geforce 6800 Ultra 256MB

i want 8AA 16AF ^^

Awesome, I should be able to run it with decent settings, not max but not crappy either!

P4 3.0GHZ
1GB RAM
Nvidia 6600GT 128MB

oh well, lower than I expected. having a better card will do the trick when I want to play later this year.

Open your case up and have a look at the PSU. There is a label that tells you your wattage for the PSU. Get that Ram

It should be tim for medium settings.

How do I know if my comp can fit a X850 or 6800gt? I have a 9800XT right now so i dunno...i might wanna upgrade sometime next year.

1.7 ghz cpu
785 ram
radeon 9600 XT

no offense but reading the thread i think i'm the first one who really deserves to ask the question: will it run :p

You can click on the link with nice BF2 logo :D
but in game i say low and 800*600 sorry.
or just d/l demo on friday and you will see.

I don't need to upgrade my pc.

Look Down (Sig)

I have: P4 2.8 Ghz, 1024 Mb RAM, 2 TB hardrive, GeForce FX 5600...

im more worried about the netcode and my connection tbh, my 512k connection will hopefully be good enough for the big servers.
