Oh god help!

Right, my computer has been broke since.... ehh... about 6 months ago.

Basicaly, power cut happened mid install of graphics drivers and its never worked since.

Recently I pulled it out and started work on it again and its being as much hassel as it was before. I dont have alot of money at the mo so i cant afford a new one i just want this one working, replacing maybe just one bit if need be.

Basicaly it turns of randomly. Its an ATX Case and what happens is that it turns of instantly but the green power on light is still on. Now it seems to only happen in games.... which lead me to belive that it was tempature related but it turns off at CPU = 60C as well as 70C and all bios checks are disabled.

Im really at a loss and dont have a clue how to trouble shoot it.

Ive reformated a million times and no luck.

My system is:
AMD 2700+
512MB DDR 2700
40GB IDE HD ( my SATA dirve seems to have forked itself )
ASUS A7V8X Mobo
Radeon 9500 Pro

It never cuts out in windows, only in games. Ive got latest drivers for everything and it still does it.

Anyone got ANY ideas?

1) I think the 9500pro requires an extra plugin right? If so check the power connection and make sure all the pins are plugged in properly.
2) Your computer is plugged in to a fairly expensive surge protector, right?
3) Since you have an Asus motherboard, the driver CD has nifty program called ASUSprobe. It measures the heat of your processor, and other things if you have it hooked up in your computer.

Just out of curiosity, what happened to your SATA drive? Mine seemed to "fork" itself too.

1) Aye, checked that. Infact remove all components and placed them back in ( yes i was bored mid day on a friday )

3) Not quite sure. Basicaly ive always had my OS on the 40GB and games on the 120GB SATA. So when i reformated the machine first time it wasnt really a problem that the SATA wasnt showing up because i thought i would have some fast track raid dirvers to install.

However, even with them installed it still doesnt work and my bios seems to sit there saying "Searching for dirve" or something like that (and takes AGES) when i have it pluged in, and just says "No raid dirve detected" when its not pluged in.

Oh yeah, flashed the bios with latest crap and it still does it.

Oh and another thing, the one time i did acctualy get it working ( dont ask me how, it just showed up one time ) whenever i accessed the drive it would give a 2second system halt where NOTHING would move i.e. The mouse, mid game it would freeze for 2 seconds.... everthing, even just looking at files in explore.

AND ANOTHER THING! I restarted after that and it didnt show up

Now i cant get it to show up again
