Oh-oh! "Steam is temporarily unavailable please try later"

Hi,

I could use some help from anyone out there who might have a clue as to what this is all about. I was on dial-up Internet access and I was able to log onto Steam with no problems. This week I upgraded to Verizon DSL which arrived with a Westell 327w router/modem. Now whenever I try to log onto Steam, I get this "Steam is temporarily unavailable please try later" message.
This is probably old news for many of you, but it's a new problem for me. I've tried several of the posted remedies to no avail.
Any help would be appreciated.

Your router is automatically blocking steam's ports so it can't connect to the master servers:

Try to reinstall st3am.

Problem solved. Contacted Verizon DSL and found that I needed to make an exception to the Westell modem/router software to allow access by Steam and then I had to uninstall and reinstall Steam. We're cookin' now, though. Thanks to all.
