Ohmic Resistance of a Brick

My group for AS physics has just been given our planning paper, and we have 2 weeks to do it. Simple enough, really.

However, our task is to measure the electrical resistancs (in Ohms) of a brick. A brick heated to 800 degrees celcius. yes. I suppose that this would be relatively easy with a big pair of tongs, a custom Volt/Ammeter, and a disliked teacher, but that just seems too easy.

so, if someone could think of the most complicated, unnecessary and expensive method possible, it would be greately appreciated :E
 
why do you want to find an expensive way to do that? whats wrong with doing it the easy way, thats how id do it.
 
Attach one electrode on the brick to your computers power supply, and the other to the inside of your dryer, and then measure how long it takes for your circuit box to explode :)
 
800 celcius!!!!! Be damn careful you don't make it explode, if there is any sign of moisture in it do not heat it.
I have had BAD BAD experiences with heating concrete and bricks.
Why the hell are you trying to measure the resistance across a brick?
It is going to be so high you may as well not bother.
Do something interesting like the resistance across a rat, with quite a few amperes :devil: :cheese:
 
Go buy an industrial glass burner oven thingy, put thy brick in thy oven and then turn the oven on, aaand then measure the ohms with a meter thing.

And therein lies the problem! Although we arent actually going to measure the resistance across a brick, it is just a planning paper. The paper started with some info about buildings collapsing after being struck by lightening, but i havent ever heard of that.

i personally, feel that the experiment could be more interesting if the 'wires' were made from the outer casings of HE grenades. A friend of mine simply prefers to attach a note to the brick and throw it through an examiners window.

Expensive > Cheap

Ok here's how I would do it:
Grab a brick/couple of bricks
put them in a field
"create" (through any means nessescary) a few flamethrowers out of whatever you can find
Build a small oven in the field
put the bricks in
attach flame throwers
leave
uuuhm... then measure the resistance or whatever :D

got some good ways of doing stuff:)

it has to be less than 500 words too :P

and to the persons post up there, u cant do that you would melt the apparatus
