i was looking for a mobo that has socket 755 with PCI x16 AND agp x8 so that i can still use my gf fx5900 but so i can still upgrade later. so i went and looked at www.newegg.com and looked for a mobo with both of them. so i found this

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=13-128-248&depa=1

it comes up when i look for AGP but it doesn't say it has one, but it dose say it has G.E.A.R. and from the picts it lookes like an AGP slot???
also in one of the reviews the guy says he dint want to spend the money on a pci card so he used gear. but i am not quite shure thats what he meant.

so can i put my Gforce FX5900 into the G.E.A.R. slot or is newegg just retarded?

Im guessing GEAR is a special name gigabyte gives to its AGP slots. Prolly means like Graphics Excellerated Agp Recepticle, or something.

i want to know for shure before i buy... dose any one know??? ill go look at there site in the mean time.

1-5-1 What is G.E.A.R?

The revolutionary and innovative G.E.A.R (GIGABYTE Enhance AGP Riser) interface provides an additional interface for traditional AGP Graphics card on Intel chipset based PCI Express solution motherboard. It supports most of the AGP Graphics card available in the market from AGP 4X to AGP 8X graphics card.

yep you where right. and its there for the exact reason i am getting it for.
The revolutionary and innovative G.E.A.R. (GIGABYTE Enhance AGP Riser) interface provides an additional
interface for traditional AGP Graphics card on Intel chipset based PCI Express solution motherboard.
It supports most of the AGP Graphics card available in the market from AGP 4X to AGP 8X graphics card.
Note:
1. Please remove the sticker on the G.E.A.R. slot before inserting your AGP graphics card.
2. G.E.A.R. interface is designed to provide a temporary AGP solution before the mass availability of
PCI Express graphics card. It is suggested to use PCI Express X 16 interface graphics card to avoid the
damage of your AGP graphics card.
3. G.E.A.R. interface is created through PCI interface signal and voltage switching to AGP interface, due to
this technical specification difference, it might cause AGP graphics card life-span shortens.
4. Please view the graphics cards support list currently validated by GIGABYTE enginneers. For more
updated information, please logon to GIGABYTE website at http://www.gigabyte.com.tw
EDIT: beat me to it :)

the sound sucks but i have a good sound card so i dont care...

So what it's a PCI-E mobo that still has an AGP slot?

thats why

that sucks... oh well. even tho it is running on the faster PCI x16 bus.

ne way when it kills my card ill just go get a new pci x16 :)
