I cant play the games i love or dl music (takes ages), i have to wait for flash to load for hours ffs, streaming is a joke,id like to dl some new sp maps for hl2 but geuss what...........i cant.

I feel for you, Smoke. I used to think 56k couldn't get any slower...until I moved to a place that had a 22k connection. But, I don't know whether you can get broadband in your area, but if not, just do what I did: call the phone/cable repeatedly. It works eventually.
And if your place is already broadband-accessible and you just can't pay for it...get a job, beg someone, su--uh, do odd jobs...

Nothing feels better than to leave the computer and go for a long walk or run and then sit on some high point and drink and eat lots of nice food.

Good grief. I remember 56k being absolutley super duper lightning fast internet, but now looking back even the 512k broadband that I started with 4/5 years ago seems bloody sluggish. I feel for you man, I really do!

You could always go for satellite internet. It is bad for gaming but it is fast for downloading.

If something just can't be achieved, try to do some other things to do. Don't get so much involved in computers but in sports, arts, etc... It'll depress you less. I got a DSL line a year ago along with my cousin who lives two houses away. We share the same connection and share the expenses. Try to persuade a neighbour to the same thing or something like that.
