Heywo,

I just been larking about with low grav =D omfg is that fun.. anyways, before that i was tweaking settings.

I have 3ghz intel, 1gig ram, 9800pro:

I had half the stuff high half medium, no AA/AF on 1024*768 and i had sum low fps at times :O

Anyways, for a laRf, i put em all on max, 8x AA, 16x AF, max everything... still 1024*768, running DX9 and...

MY FPS IS BETTER AND MY QUALITY IS PHENOMINAL!

So i'd suggest maxing out your settings (regardless of system) then when things start to die (if they do :p) then work out at what point they do, eg water/large areas/many players on screen etc..

Just thought i'd fill u in, back to css!

interesting..I have experienced a similar effect with the VST..

What Chris said is true. I have a AMD Athlon 2800+, 512 ddr ram, and a radeon 9000. When I put on low setting I had about 30 fps. They when I went to see what happen when everything was on. I have about 60. It was very strange but it does work.

Isn't the max 6x?
6x is the max on ATi cards, but nVidia go from 4x to 8x, which is ridiculous and causes huge slowdowns.

with tempral AA u can get much higher to 21 or something i dunno :rolling:

And the point of this thread is? I mean it's not like you have any nice screenshots for people to glance at.

I get pretty decent frames with my Ati 9800 Pro with everything on max, 1024x768 2xAA (temporal) 4xAF, but..

I find that control and responce is not nessisarly a product of FPS. I can turn up my settings higher and still get about the same FPS, but there will be a certain slugishness to the controls. Its not huge, and I probably wont care much in HL2, but in CSS, tight control is key to get the jump on other human players.

I get the same fps no matter my settings.
I have 16af and 6aa and all settings maxed, on 1280x1024
and I get 60-70fps
