ok...WTF !

well i used to run this game at about 35 FPS, with a radeon 9600 pretty good but when theres a big battle i would get like 20 FPs.
right when i was going to upgrade my card well it burnt

so i bought a new one the next day ..a radeon 9800 pro..well now i get about 49 FPS and 30 FPS in battle which i like, but, I CANT TURN !!! i have to walk straight and if i slighty turn a bit its kinda like watching a slideshow (unplayable), I get like 4 FPS unti it loads where my character would be. its impossible to play now !! I tried 4 different drivers and I dont have any clue what is going on ??

I know that I used to have a similar problem with my old card and the original HL. I changed from D3D to OpenGL and that fixed the problem if I remember right. Could have been the other way around.

I can't remember if this is an option with Source now but it's worth taking a look.

Yeah only use Vsync if you have a TFT monitor. And even then it's worth taking it off unless you get terrible tearing onscreen.

Also, I'm currently overclocking my 9800 pro. I'm using a program called "Rage 3D Tweak". It's good, and I'd give it a try if I were you.

sure enough when i turn Vsync of it works pretty darn good.

why is the use of vsync anywhy ?

its there to prevent image tearing, if you cant tell the difference, id suggest keeping it off.

i have the same card and i get 100fps in some places my lowest on maps like office i still get 60
