Okami, one of the industry's most received games of recent times will be heading to Nintendo's Wii next year despite multiple rumors denying its existence.

The company finally confirmed rumours that Okami would be heading to the Wii, arriving in spring 2008.

As many had speculated, the game will use the Wii remote for control, motion controlled attacks and all important paintbrush antics.

Hooray! :E

Hell yes. Wii control is the first thing I thought of when I played Okami.

I was thinking it should of went to the Wii when I read the review.

It could work for the DS also, but that is a long, long, longshot

I heard good things about this game. Being out on the Wii means I might actually get to play it!

Awesome. I love this game, but in doses. I've been playing it on and off since the day of release and I think I just got past the 2/3 point while playing it today. So, I guess you could say it's pretty epic. :D

Wii will be ideal for this, honestly. Not just the painting, but the whole control scheme seems perfectly suited to the wiimote+nunchuk. The movement is very Zelda-like and the combat is basic enough to be controlled by a few basic gestures, with buttons assigned to secondary weapons and the like. I just hope they keep the platforming simple enough, as ease of movement is really essential for some of the puzzles. Bogging it down with too many gestures could be a little frustrating.

Total no-brainer, but awesome news nonetheless. I will buy this for Wii as well even though I have the PS2 version. This is the second time a game has been ported to the Wii and is (likely) better than the original. (See RE4 for the other one.)
