... I know there's a million of these threads and they're all boring but...
My PC: 1gig RAM, amd xp 3000+, but only a mere radeon 9200 256mb gfx card.

Now in real terms how will HL2 run? I know It can't be pushed up too high detail style, but will I be able to run smooth in 1024 with say, medium prettiness settings.

And do you guys know if rad 9200 is dx7, 8 or what?

Oh and what are "Omega drivers"? Sorry for all these annoyin questions! I just figure u guys are the ones to answer them!
Cheers!!!

O..M..F..G

Dude, you will be able to run HL2 at 1024*768*32 with ease. And Omega Drivers are "un"Official drivers for ATI. They are very good and I highly recommend them.

Wrong forum, But, Yeah I think it shouldn't run TOO bad...I recommend getting a new video card though. Settings probably medium/low. Don't know if its dx7 8 or 9.

Sorry...you need a radeon x900,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000xt supercalafrajulisticexpialadocious cardboard edition to run the game.

http://www.omegadrivers.net/

The purpose of the Omega Drivers is to provide gamers with an alternate set of drivers, ones that have more options and features than the original sets. The drivers contain optimizations, extra features (like OC capabilities), more resolutions and internal tweaks that can give them the edge in a gaming environment over the normal drivers, which are often tailored for synthetic benchmarks. All Omega driver sets are tested (unless noted) to ensure maximum compatibility and reliability.

And your computer will run Hl2 just about fine. :)

You would be able to run at about 30-40 fps on DirectX 8.1 at 1024 by 768 with all settings on low.

You forgot the 9,000,000,000,000 MBs of memory.

Thank you very much! :D

I was a bit worried my hammy 9200 might drag me down.

I actually currently have an AMD 1.3 processor, but I've told the rents it overheated and broke and I need £120 to upgrade (it's money out of my savings so I'm not just blatently stealing off my parents to get ready for HL2). So that's why I'm buyin an AMD 3000+ on monday. Yipee. I can run HL2 woo!

Yeah, cheerz guys, I've installed them Omega drivers too.

It should run fine, how fine? i dont know. dont listen to anyone giving specific results like "30-40fps at 1024*768 all low" because they are talking out of their asses - as noone knows what its gonna run like, and my dad has a 128mb 9200 and a way crapper processor than u, and he can run CSS with ease

people can know what it will run like by comparing results from the hl2 graphs (released by valve), hl2 beta performance and cs:s performance.

It's based on experience with CS:S and the VST... :hmph:

You suck. It will run like crap, go and spend 3000 more dollars.

it's gonna be alright...

or else it gets the HOSE AGAIN!!!

As far as I know, the entire 9xxx series from ATi is DX9. I've never paid much attention to the 9200, though so I'm not 100% on that.

Are you getting a new motherboard to support that 3000+ because I doubt the motherboard with the AMD 1.3 will accept this chip? I'm not trying to be a complete smart arse, but I'd hate you to buy a new CPU when your motherboard won't accept it? Just checking... unless you're getting a new motherboard and a 3000+ for £130?

The 9200 is fully DX 8.1 compatible, and you can run CS: Source on everything high except AA and AF (Turn those off), at 1024x768 at a good 40 fps, I've never had any problems with it, looks bee-you-tee-ful.

It's funny really, this thread and many like this one have always gotten more replies than any thread i've ever started. =[
My apologies for the off topic rant.

It would be nice if Valve releases the Stress Test on Steam so everyone can test it. I hope they do it because a lot of people aren't sure what performance they can expect. Usually when I want to know how well a game runs on my pc I install the demo but for HL2 there isn't one. So the only option to find that out is to buy it. I'm sure my pc will run it fine but I'm still curious if I can run at full detail with a good framerate. I'm not asking someone else here to do that because the only way to find it out and know it for sure is to run the VST or HL2.

burner ur computer is krap

might as well go kill ur self hl2 wont run on ur shit box

Well suicide may well be on the cards cuz I've just discovered my mobo can only take up to an AMD xp 2800. But hey, that won't be too bad.... WILL IT???

I'll be so p*ssed if after all this wait my goddam PC cant run the bugger.
Student loan please!
