Are there any old games that you've heard a lot about, but you just haven't got around to play them yet? I can sure think of a few. Take Total Annihilation for instance, I've heard so much about this game supposedly the best RTS of all time but I haven't played it. I feel like I'm missing out:( .

Um, System Shock 1 and 2. I got the demo for the second one, but it would shutdown my pc after a few minutes. Same thing happens with GTA1.

I played through about half of Planescape: Torment and then had my save game erased. The story line was quite nice but I couldn't will myself through all of that awful, awful combat again. Some games just should've been old school adventure titles. Also, I need to get System Shock 2.

Total Annihilation, Mech Warrior (any), Legend of Zelda (any), to name a few.

System Shock 1

btw Starcraft is a classic game, i used to play it alot.

I still play Starcraft. I find the gameplay to be more fun than Warcraft III's (Creeping for the lose) and to have more depth than Dawn of War's (Not to discredit Dawn of War. The game is incredible). Starcraft is a definite must-play for anyone simply because it still represents cutting edge RTS gameplay.

Also, Starcraft's visual style is just so appealing. It is like a comfort game, akin to a comfort food.

Never played earth bound even tho nintendo power hyped it up!

There are people in this world who haven't played DOOM?!

Anyway, Total Annihilation for me, although I don't have a big desire to see it either.

I have System Shock 2, but can't get it to work on my PC.. damn XP. I OWN THE F***ING GAME AND I CAN'T PLAY IT!! Every says it's sooo awesome..

It was awesome for the time, but probably feels awfully dated now.

I never played the original System Shock, only watched a friend run about for a few mins.

System Shock, Deus Ex, GTA (anything after 2),Metal Gear Solid

I'm in the process right now of looking at old games. I played Grim Fandango for the first time last week, for instance.

Mostly the Zelda games, especially Ocarina of Time, which I plan to change once I get my Wii (grab the gamecube version). I did play through alot of the SNES one on an emulator, but never quite finished it. Still, I'm always asking people what the big appeal of these games is, and it's always "you've gotta play it to understand". So I will :P

Also, I never *quite* finished Deus Ex. I played System Shock 2 for about 15 minutes, but it was creeping me the f*ck out so I quit. And I played TA and didn't really like it ^_^

Oh, and Starcraft pwns. I was never really into RTS games, but SC is just that awesome.

StarLancer-fine game, never had the chance to play it ;(

I'm probably going to get killed (or shunned) for mine but anyways...

Command & Conquer (before Generals)
Dark Reign (I favoured Total Annihilation - they were the rivals at the time)
System Shock 1&2
Thief
Deus Ex
Monkey Island Games

I'll get my coat...

Any Final Fantasy. But that's because I don't play RPGs.

You aren't missing much, to be honest.

heh - it is a weird game. About 4 years ago I was ill to the extent of being bed ridden and constantly on uber strong painkillers that made things very trippy. Knowing I liked silly rpgs my mate got me Earthbound. The next two weeks were spent in a strange kind of fitful haze of strangeness. I definately finished the game, but haven't a clue what happenend. Visiting it again would probably take me to place I don't want to remember.

Deus Ex and System Shock. I've really been meaning to.

Dark Reign
Now this I did play on a friends computer, and actually liked it at the time. The units were cool and it had a very Starcraft/C&C sort of feel. Don't remember much else about it...

Haven't played any Monkey Island games either, though >.>

Edit - Oh yeah, and I just saw Gothic II in the store cheap and almost got it, but I'd heard it was difficult to get into... *fetches a few reviews*
