Wow my computer won't turn on after this sound (BOOM!) and after burning smell !!!!! Some 1 help me waht's wrong i tried diffrent power supply and still doesn't turn on and i don't think it's graphic card coz it doesn't turn on can some 1 tell me what's wrong with my computer? well my chipset fan on the motherboard wasn't working..... so it might be the motherboard?

the chipset fan wouldnt have anything do with not turning on something busted and u said u smelled a burning smell so check for burn marks on ur hardware

might be something on your motherboard, one of the wires, cd drives...just check everything

Burning smell sounds like a capacitor blowout, check these on the motherboard :)

My thoughts exactly.

Turns out that when my computer died, my motherboard had blown not one, not two, but seventeen capacitors. Oh, fun times. Fun times indeed.

Hope you get your computer fixed soon.

Open your case and locate the busted capacitors to verify that it's your motherboard. Then bust out your warranty and make some phone calls.

And remember, the busted capacitors are the ones with the warped, "blown-out" tops, as if someone tried to punch his way through the middle of a four-slice pizza.

Oh yeah? Because the replacement PSU must be in perfect working condition just because...why?

Try taking your graphics card out and put a diffrent one in. I've had a graphics card in a computer before, wouldn't even start up. Took it out and worked like a charm(had to use onboard :( )

Pesmerga, it's much much more likely that one component has failed rather than that two components have failed independently of each other.

In any case, the PSU is ridiculously easy to isolate. Unplug the PSU entirely from your motherboard and all components. Short pins 13 & 14 (green & black). Give it power. If the PSU fans spin up, you're good, if they don't, it's dead.
