OMG did you read yet

Looks dodgy tbh :p

"Hoaxer: Weird question, but...will the G-Man be invulnerable again? :D

Gabe Newell: Do not shoot the G-Man. Bad bad idea."

Hahah :)

"Hoaxer: As we know manipulator weapon allows us to pick up not to heavy objects. Will it be possible to use it on... birds for example? Or it can't pick up "alive" objects?

Gabe Newell: Sure."

Well that puts an end to one debate lol :D

Phunny interview indeed, but I hope it isn\'t faked. All these jokes and the nickname \"Hoaxer\" makes me feel a bit unsafe. ;)

is that real?, some funnyass shit in there..

Hoaxer: Weird question, but...will the G-Man be invulnerable again? :D

Gabe Newell: Do not shoot the G-Man. Bad bad idea.

the interviewer's freaking name is hoaxer so its kinda skeptical

It's like Gabe was teasing him the whole time at the end. He's decided that he can say whatever he wants now.

Gabe Newell: That's a good idea.

Gabe Newell: Sure.

Gabe Newell: The G-Man is actually a hermaphrodite. Don't tell anyone ;)

Gabe Newell: That's pretty much all they sell at the Gap in the future :)

Most of the questions make a lot of sense, and fit in with information I've heard elsewhere (regarding the technical aspects of Source). I'm going to say that it's legit, mainly because there is no real reason to think it's not, Gabe often replies to people, and the info is pretty standard: not anything crazy.

This first half of this interview is great, all kinds of new info, like 'static props', soft shadows with DX9, the tornado thing (awesome), icthyosaurs will be in the game (apparently), physical properties are contained in the VMTs, etc.

The last half of the interview is all Gabe-humor, lol.

EDIT: BTW, static props solves one of the major problems with 'scaling' mods. Hammer only lets you create geometry by units, so if you scale so that 1 unit = 1 foot, all your doors and walls and railings and other immobile objects have to be 1 foot wide. With static props you could build all the geometry in XSI and import it. You wouldn't have to use brushes at all.

Whoa!

"for example one of the developers built a mini-tornado that not only looked like a tornado, it would push the player around, and pick up everything that was light enough and swirl it around."

Coooool!

did anyone not catch that the ichthyosaur will make a re-appearance?

add it to the enemy list I guess

edit: nevermind im blind

I know!, when I heard this i almost fainted!!!

Yeah well an interviewer calling himself hoaxer is kinda...asking for it. On the other hand it is quite a trustable website, and combined with the technical info that Gabe gave, i'm going to go with 'real' on this one :p

Great to know that manipulator works on live stuff. Also I can't wait to shoot the G after this comment "Gabe Newell: Do not shoot the G-Man. Bad bad idea." Hehe and solving the swimming problem with a ichthyosaur was probably Gabe's own idea :) Luuurvvve it!
The comment about the hedgehogs and the snails was hilarious! :D

Excellent, I can't wait to pick up a headcrab and shoot it at a combine soldier muhahaha![

I just about shit myself when I saw that thing first in HL1, I cant wait to shit myself again... in hi-res

Yeah, you can't make up stuff like that hedgehog thing: that's pretty definately Gabe. I wonder how the icthy thing would really work though: that means every water level has to be ready to spawn more and more icthys the closer you get to where skybox meets the sea? Pretty cool if so, but it would seem to be something of a hassle in terms of having to worry about all those extra creatures running around in a level once they were spawned.

How about pickup up alyex and throwing her into some water...I hope she starts swimming and not fall to the ground like hl1

Apos I don't think you can survive spawning 5 ichthyosaurs by swimming to the map border. I mean you could probably kill one or two or even three, but eventually you have to swim back to the shore and make it, before a few extra monsters in the level would become a problem. Of course with godmode yadda yadda. The purpose of the ichthyosaur spawning as you come closer to the border, is simply to tell the player "don't try to go there buddy". It's a very well concealed unbreakable barrier, which has been discussed on these forums before.

"Hoaxer: We have seen birds - but will be there animals in City-17: cats, dogs,... rats?

Gabe Newell: How come no one ever asks about hedgehogs. Hedgehogs are pretty darn cute if you ask me, and they eat slugs, which in the Pacific Northwest is a total bonus feature."

Well I learned something new here hedgehogs eat slugs... lmao!! Gabe is funny.

"Do not shoot the G-Man. Bad bad idea."

Wonder what will happen if you do.

oh shi-

I think he'll reveal his true form and eat your skull.

another sonic game?

...gay

and that doesnt sound like gabe

lets have a countdown till someone makes a "OMFG GABE SEZ TEH GMAN IS A HERMAPHRODITE!!!!!111!1!1oneoneone1!!1!" thread

Guys, what's a Hermaphrodite? Gabe said the G-Man was one

Hoaxer: Will we guess during the game who was mother of Alyx Vance?

Gabe Newell: The G-Man is actually a hermaphrodite. Don't tell anyone ;)

The Hermaphrodite thing wouldn't be so weird at all if the G-Man is actually some sort of alien with a totally different biology anyway.

Is a Hermaphrodite some kind of sperm doner?
J/k-I'm going to find out what it means.

if South Park has taught me anything its what a hermaphrodite is :p

basically its an organism of both sexes or whatever, like a woman with a schlong
