These are screenshots of the combine gun ships using some weapon I didn't even know they had.

This was on the map of building blocks. I spawned a bunch of gunships with the command "give npc_combinegunship". to spawn them you must be above the ground with noclip. after I spawned them I spawned a bunch of resistance fighters right beneath them with the command "npc_create npc_citizen." the result was the ships using a bomb-laser thing. Very cool stuff.
 
i just now realized how ugly that gunship looks. anyway, that looks like the weapon from independance day
 
no, thats not from the leak. I downloaded the Jbmod and did it. This is all legit.
 
Well, excuse me, It IS from the leak, 'cause I've played it and it was there :) enjoy.
 
this weapon looks awsome in action. If you want to try it, you will have to open a map and do the following; First, you must spawn the gunship, which can be done with the command "give npc_combinegunship". you must be atleast a few feet off the ground if you do this, so you will have to use noclip. next, point your crosshair directly beneath the gunship and type the following in the console: npc_create npc_citizen. the combine gunship will at this point use it's uber-cannon to decemate the guy. It is the second coolest weapon in the game in my opinion, aside from the strider ubergun. Have fun

Those aren't from the stolen build. The version in the final legit game can do the ground attack, I think its just disabled in HL2, but make your own map with them and the gunship is quite happy to use it on the enemy below.

Besides, the stolen build one had a regular explosion when it fired the ground laser, the final version has the suppression gun style explosion, similar to the striders and the supression mortar thingy.
 
six, I assure you this is from the normal game. It may have been in the leak as well, but this one is legit.
 
I wonder why they choose to take it out of the final game. Guess it was a little bit over-powered for most people's taste.
 
OK, I guess I'm misunderstanding you guys, I'm talking about the beam - that was in the leak, are you guys talking about the pictures? Yes, they're from the full version, but as TDE has said, was disabled. Sorry for the confusion.

Err Sixthree, your wrong completely. Trust me on this

The gunship is in the final game, the ground attack is DISABLED ONLY in HL2.. and even then its probably enabled in a later map, just most of the time it isn't or it isn't regularly fired. BUT IT IS IN THE FINAL GAME

Nothing in those pics that he showed regarding the gunships is from the stolen build, its all from the final game.

Sixthree, boot up Hammer, make a map, make a gunship and a path for it to follow, run it, turn on god mode, and go stand under it.
 
If theres a close group of ground enemies and the gunship cant fire its main weapon, it'll use the secondary one (blue beam) which disintergrates anything, Having Dog, 2 antlion guards and 14 citizens all get blown up in one hit is cool. It shot me on the coast levels with it while I had my buggy stopped, instant kill from it. Looks sweet.

Ahh, I thought it was disabled for the most part, but it just sounds like its got better AI for using it. I never stopped long enough or had too many things directly under it during the game, only in custom maps, so didn't get to see it properly in the actual game.

It is a very cool effect though. Atleast its not the bitch that the strider's version is, following you around wherever you go, damn things, so unfair hehe.

But yeah, those pics are definately all from the final one, heck the gunship has working normal maps and lighting in those images (and the one from under it looks sooooo nice), the stolen build didn't have those extra effects.

You know that strider mod that guy made? Well, I wonder if it would be possible to do the same thing with the gunship. It would be difficult to give it a lift and fall control, but it would be an awsome mod that would be well worth the effort. someone could make a mod where there are striders and gunships that have to battle it out. OMG, imagine if you had an assault wh

But in the interest of letting you get away from this with some dignity left (Without me deleting posts and changing history, which i cba doing right now) I'll drop it and pretend you did mean it as "yes, I've seen it in the leak" ;)

Course now I'll have to berate you about playing the stolen build :p lol

look at the begining of Opp Force ... the ships there have the same 'independence day' weapon
 
Valve definitely dropped the ball on that. That effect is awesome and screams scripted sequence.

i have the same building blocks map as the first screenshots but when i use "give npc_combinegunship" the gunship just hovers around in place and dosen't shoot anything.

anyone know a solution 2 this?
 
you need to have an enemy for it to shoot at. It will stay hovered in the same place though, for it doesn't have the pathfinding ai built into it. BTW, how do you get a mod idea off the ground. I really like the idea of the resistance verses combine with vehicles concept.

I would bet small sums of money that starting that would be folly
like the people who were working on a hldm....
I'm pretty sure (by intuition alone... jesus is magic!) the 'new gametype' involves vehicles and objectives and so forth
 
it CAN'T be from the leak....because the crossbow wasn't modelled or in existance in the leak and you have it equipped in those screenshots

ent_fire npc_combinegunship setrelationship "player D_HT 90"

This well set you as a target for the gunship, replace player with any npc name (ie npc_antlion, npc_zombie, or npc_dog) to have it target them.

And yes I leard of this shortly after the release of HL²DM and learning of the setrelationship command.
 
omg ive seen this in action b4! on the lighthouse lvl! i pauded ai and spawned some resistance sissys and it killed them all using this gun!

hey.... i wonder if theres an ent command or a conolse command in general that make it use this all the time, or.....MAYBYE EVEN ON COMMAND!!!!
