Just a suggestion:

How about adding some translators to the forums? We could have them help translate for people who don't know English very well. They would of course need some sort of system to summon them, but all in all, they can help the bridge the forum's language barrier.

:D

I reccomend them getting this if they don't already have it :)

We know how translators can be very vague, especially on a gaming forum with many terms not in a normal vocabulary.

sooo, how will this help them any more?

you're thinking of actual people to translate? I don't think there would be enough people willing to spend the time doing that...

Mods spend far more time browsing threads and banning people.

*shrugs*

but they don't know all languages :E

(btw, seeing as we're both american, most foreigners know more than one language, that usually includes english; I haven't seen any real problems in translation around here, some bad grammer is about the extent of it)

It's a good idea but why would you go on an english speaking forum in the first place if you spoke a different language?

Is there a thing available for VBulletin that automatically you can download and then users can see english automatically be translated into there own language without any help all in a program?

hahaha, I like how the vote is right now :E

but yeah, there's prolly a vb mod that they could get

vb mod would probably use Babelfish or Google for its translations.

They're not going to go write their own language translation tools.

yeah, I just don't think it's very practical to have a whole staff of people for translation...

Hey, whatever, I don't need it.

The poor starving children in some third-world country who just got to play HL2 for the first time and don't know how to get past that part with the ramp and the pulleys do.

;(

It's a mostly English speaking site. So its expected people will use common sense and post in the English language.. If I post on a french speaking site I'll post in French, Russian site - Russian. Posts made in other languages often get ignored by the majority anyway, so its doing themselves a favor to post in the language the majority can see.

Don't worry, I am not saying "omg u stole me posteh!!!!!!!1111"

Okay, majority rules, close this thread.

lmfao.

not a great idea. kind of a waste of people's times. :o

No, if they cant speak english they should visit another forum instead.

It don't think it would bother anybody, but afterall it is an English speaking forum, and we really don't have a problem with exclusive foreign language speakers.

Yeah great, I can see the benefits of using online translators right now - post after post of highly confusing semi-English that possesses the creativity and structure of a five year old's capability.

That's no way to talk about Munro's posts.

Well, that's not fair. We all know that his native language is 'bollocks'.

He speaks fluent 'bullshit' as well :o
/me hides

To be perfectly honest, I'd much rather read a post in badly written English from a person who has at least made an attempt to speak the English language than a load of gibberish translated by some sort of crap online translator. I physically find it easier to read badly written, non-translated text.

Plus, we'd not have NEARLY as much fun with RJMC. <3.
