onboard audio and surround sound headphones

im getting a new computer but it has onboard sound. ill probably get a sound card later, but do i need a sound card to use surround sound headphones? and also it wont be that bad right? the sound with onboard audio, like how much different is it compared to a sound card. and also which sound card is the best bang for ur buck.

Depends on what the onboard sound is on the motherboard, there are lots of diffrent types.

Some much better then others.

the motherboard is an asus im pretty sure. whatever one u need for athlon 64 3000+.
