One last piece of advice please

I know i've ask a few questions on graphics cards but can you please put my mind at rest? Right i'm down to two graphics but i can't decide which ones best so could you please help?

My final choice is between the Sapphire 9600xt 256mb and the 9800pro 128mb.

That's easy. 9800 pro all the way. Pay no attention to 256mb or 128mb memory. For one thing the 9600xt can't even use the 256mb memory properly, it'll actually slow it down. So get a 9800 pro. The best one is the MSI 9800 pro because it uses the R360 core so it's really an underclocked 9800xt.

I have the MSI 9800 Pro 128 MB and it works great. It comes with like 6 games to (not that I bought it for the games) but Morrowind is taking over my life. Haha.

9800 Pro > 9600 XT 256mb

The 9800 pro has more sheer power, and very few games come close to filling all of that 128mb memory.

Can someone explain why the same model graphics (9800 pro) has different connect bits on different manufactors eg. the msi one matches my AGP slot were the sapphire one doesn't, why is this?

The AGP slot is only one size and you should only have one notch in your AGP slot.
All that you care about is that the card has that matching notch. If it has an extra notch, that is not of any consern.
It will work. It is just allowing other people with the other notch to use the card also.

If your AGP slot wasn't compatible then there would not be a matching notch on the card.

Oh ok thanks i got a bit worried then Sorry to keep on asking about graphics cards but i'm trying to get the best card for my money, so anyway would the MSI FX5900XT128mb be better than the MSI radeon 9800 pro 128mb, also i can get the MSI fx5900xt 128mb about £10-20 cheaper so which i go for?

That £20 extra will give you a much better card. The last generation of cards wasn't Nvidias finest hour, and the 5900 wasn't any different. They cannot hope to keep up with ATi's offering when it comes to rendering pixel shaders (i look to someone else to confirm this, Asus ??) which is what direct x 9 is all about. This time round its much closer though.

So yeah in short - stretch to the 9800pro, it'll do you proud. I reccomend www.dabs.co.uk or here .

The 5900XT is aimed above the 9600XT and below the 9800Pro. The 5900XT is below the other 5900 models but above the 5700ultra.

The 5900 is aimed at the 9800Pro 128mb level.
Now in DX9 games they can't compare for performance, which is why they run in DX8 for HL2.

This will give you an idea of DX9 performance.
Get the 9800Pro.
