It's just me. I really hate bands in which the singer screams in an extreme and violent way.

Besides, I don't want to vote blindly either.

That first song sucks so much cock I doubt Richard Simmons could match the number, the little Brad Pitt intro just makes it worse

When I listen to metal (more like, when I am forced to listen to it), I only listen to the technical aspects of it. I absolutely don't care about lyrics or thoughts behind them, because most of the time it's just "**** JESUS OMFG LOL" :|
And I think this band is pretty good in the technical aspect (I went to a gig of theirs, they sound better live)

^What he said. I would like to help out but voting for your friend's band would be a betrayal of metal. Tell him you tried but his band just sucks too damn bad. Ironically he's more likely to get votes from non-metal fans trying to help you out than from metal fans, whose natural reaction is most likely to scream 'AAAARGH METALCORE GARBAGE' and fly into a furious rage at the state of music.

No, I love every type of metal, and there is far, far more to it than "**** JESUS OMFG LOL", just as there's more to rap music than "BITCHS 'N HOS" and more to country music than "TWANG" and more to... well, any type of music than its most common stereotype.

However, this thread isn't to discuss your ignorance; what your friend has up there is plainly shit, regardless of how much or little "**** JESUS OMFG LOL" there is in it. While it's also better than anything I've recorded, I also haven't recorded much, I don't have a band, I don't have a proper recording setup, or a good amp to record with. Your friend's band sounds like a bunch of hardcore punk fans trying to sound like Killswitch Engage or some other metalcore garbage, and that just doesn't work.

I'm not ignorant D:
I just adapt to people's views when I feel it will benefit my cause.

Also, I don't understand how you can say it's generic "metalcore garbage", and still try to uphold the fact that "there is far, far more to metal than its most common stereotype".

What I'm trying to say is, do you just bash bands that feed the common stereotype, or do you respect them as another type of metal? I think the latter.

Yes, there's more to metal than "metalcore garbage", but there's also more to metal than good metal.
